American Chief Justice Rehnquist has died

It's a really big deal..it's all over CNN, I'm not quite sure what it means though, all I know is that he's been around a long long time.

Among other things, it means that Prez Bush has two Justice seats to pick appointees for (Sandra Day O'Connor is retiring). It's not all that often that a president has that many seats on the Supreme Court to fill. It is one way a president can really make a long-lasting imprint on the fabric of the country, I'm sure who Bush tries to push through will be hotly debated.

Phew... Am I ever glad I had my abortion/gay wedding party yesterday.

Willy was way off politically for me, but he was one committed dude. Staunchly defended his views and often gave voice to the other opinion in his written rulings. Talk about a life time of service. He lived well and achieved.

Now then... CNN, Fox News... on your marks... get set... SPIN!

I'm...scared. The possibility of two highly conservative justices appointed by a highly, ahem, narrow minded, president makes me itchy. You know, it's ok though, I really don't like the freedoms given to me and all other women by Roe v. Wade...or the idea of gay marriage...or the idea that the governement and the supreme court may, for some wacky reason, care about ALL citizens, not just those with a similar agenda.
