Well, I learn something new everyday.
And with the amount of stuff I forget, there is a lot of stuff to learn.

When the Rheostatics aren’t travelling the world, or playing the musical equivalent of the tour-de-France, they’re preventing national catastrophes. While on a stop in Calgary, during their tour with the Tragically Hip, Dave Bidini saved Hip lead singer Gord Downie’s life.
As the story goes, it was early in the morning and Downie was munching on a tortilla chip given to him by Tielli. Tragically, the deadly but delicious snack became lodged in Downie’s windpipe.
“He was eating this corn chip and started turning blue, and I really badly gave him the Heimlich maneuver. I don’t even think I gave it properly,” Bidini recalls.
Tielli agrees Bidini’s version of the Heimlich wasn’t likely up to St. John Ambulance’s standards.
“It was the kind of Heimlich most of us would give … like … I know I’ve seen this somewhere.”
Needless to say, Downie was grateful. The Hip vocalist thanked Bidini for saving his life by buying him a souvenir chair from the decommissioned Maple Leaf Gardens.
