Summer Show in NFLD
#1

Guys,

Thinking of getting to the show in NL next month. Any idea of the best way from chicago? Thinking of flying and renting a car. But where? The location looks pretty remote. I suppose I could fly to Halifax, but am not sure if that is the best way. Any ideas?

Thanks

Mick there are two options. You could fly into Gander or Deer Lake. Gander is about 60-90 munutes(driving) from Grand Falls - Windsor. Deer Lake is at least 2-3 hours driving time.

Collins,

Any idea of the providers? Who could get me up there? Air canada?

You should be able to fly Air Canada into Gander. I think the Tango affiliate flies into there from Halifax. It's just under 100 km to Grand Falls from Gander, so it should take no more than an hour to get there.

Anyone driving from Montreal or Toronto? I'd pay gas.

It's $3K to fly to either of those locations.

It's approximately 3,000 km or 1,900 miles from Toronto to Gander!

Click for a map with the route shown.

Gas, the ferry, hotels and time: Not worth it for me. Great idea, but WAY TOO FAR for this kid.

I flew from Detroit to Toronto to Halifax for $330 USD round trip last December on Northwest. A flight from Chicago to Toronto to Halifax should be priced similarly. It could be priced higher because it is summer. Check nwa.com and priceline.com for fares. You could then drive from Halifax and take the ferry to Windsor, NFLD if you rent a car. Getting lodging close to the venue will be hard since I heard the performing bands and other fans have already booked most of it. There's always the option of sleeping in your car.
