Thats beyond terrible, once a fine institution Edgefest, now its gone down the tubes. I miss the road trips to Barrie, camping in Wasaga and lots of beer and great bands. All the more reason for "Another Roadside Attraction" baby!

Imagine a world before the "beginning was the word.”

Remember when, like, the Foo Fighters and Green Day headlined a travelling version of Edgefest in 1998? Man, I miss the 90s...

I think the days of a great act headlining Edgefest are over. What we need is some sort of rock music spiritual revival.

ANOTHER ROADSIDE ATTRACTION :thumb:

I will not give up. My face is set,my gait is fast,my goal is heaven,my road is narrow,my way is rough,my companions are few,my guide is reliable,my mission is clear. I cannot be bought, compromised, detoured, lured away, turned back, diluted or delayed. I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of adversity, negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity,or meander in the maze of mediocrity. I will not give up,shut up or slow down....Blessed Be!

I think I said it last year too: the Edgefest of the 90s died with Molson Park (which is all but officially dead) I actually like this lineup better than last year due to the absence of Jet and Good Charlotte. That being said Rise Against, Story of the Year, and Alexisonfire really need to go away.

And good on Billy Talent. I remember seeing them on the third stage in Barrie one year. Love or hate them, they are a feel good kind of sucess story for Toronto music. They certainly paid their dues and suffered through a lot of media backlash. And their cover of New Orleans is Sinking is fun.

Cheers

Pretty sad indeed.....
the two years Edgefest came to Calgary and one in Edmonton, I saw the likes of the Foo fighters, Green Day, Hole, I Mother Earth, Smashing Pumpkins, A Perfect Circle and probably lots more from the beer gardens to this? Only two bands I've even heard of, and they both passed through Mac Hall in the past 6 months...very pathetic

That's cool, I didn't know they covered that tune. Let me guess, it's a really fast punked-out version?

The Green Day/Foo Fighters one was 1998, right? I attended the Calgary stop on that tour and it was a damn good show. If I remember correctly, the Watchmen, the Headstones, Change of Heart, and the Matthew Good Band were also there.

Since all these other festivals are either dead or dying out, I think this is the perfect time to revive Another Roadside Attraction. With the exception of the Vans Warped Tour, there are literally no other travelling rock festivals around anymore. And since there's no competition, I predict that a revived ARA would be very successful.
