Somebody explain to me these "Plus" walkways, I hear you guys have. Seems to be an interesting concept in civic design, but I'm not quite clear on what they are.
I know you've got 57 of them in town, but are they major glass enclosed bridges linking buildings in the core, or more like mall-bridges in between department stores? Are they long, Jestson's style walkways, or simple spans across downtown streets? And if you've used them, do you use them often? Are they practical? Something worth spending taxes on?

I worked in downtown Calgary from 2002 to 2004 in a building right on the +15 system and I used it a ton. It was especially handy in winter when you could pretty much get anywhere downtown and not ever get cold. There are shopping outlets and food courts that cater solely to the 9-5 business crowd in the +15. I was even told that there was a movie shot where a man lived in the +15 for a length of time (not sure how long). It's also a haven for homeless people and buskers, especially when it's cold.

I'll use them if they happen to be convienent but for the most part they're just there. Of course I don't work downtown and don't spend a whole lotta time down there.
There's a movie made recently about some bet on who could last the longest without stepping foot outside that was filmed in Calgary around the plus 15's. Good flick but I can't remember the name.
I don't look at them as anything in particular. They're just there. Handy for some and almost non existent to others.

When I first moved here I found it hard to get used to them, and with my not-so-stellar sense of direction I had no idea which way I was heading half of the time. But now that I'm used to them its all good. There is something to be said for not having to wear a winter jacket to a client meeting six blocks away even when it is -30 out.
