It's a shame to see this song go the way of Dire Wolf and Emperor penguin...a true masterpeice that I don't believe gets the play it deserves.
What do you guys think?

Indeed a great song, but I would put If New Orleans Is Beat in that category as well, IMO. But hey Im in love with that whole album so Im as biased as it gets. But yeah I think you're right, its the ABAC of that album, and should get some airplay, its a beautiful song. Im still not over them leaving "If Night Is Forgetting" off that album, that song needs to be released on a b-sides/rareties album for sure.
Imagine a world before the "beginning was the word.”

im just always confused when it comes to the hips recent choice of singles...
Good Life is an awesome song, but it was such a weird first single..Beautiful Thing seemed like such an obvious choice as a wicked single...
but the most confusing thing to me is how IBE was dealt with...its like they released everything but the gold...They leaked summer and heaven, released Vaccination and Nashville...the songs that should have had videos and radio release were Family, Josephine, and Heart.

Just as a little diversion, why, oh why do they not play Emperor Penguin anymore. I think that's one of their best songs ever, but I doubt I'll ever hear it live.

I have to agree here. I also think Good Life was a very strange first single. I don't think a band should ever release a slower tune as a first single like that. I think it really hurt the albums sales.
Also, I think Are We Family is such an obvious single, I can't believe it hasn't been released. I think Everywhere would have been a great single too.

Ya, I didn't understand SKU being used as a single for IBE. That never really made much sense to me. I think Heaven would have made for a fantastic single. Of course, Heart of the Melt would have been a great one too.

I think, given the slower sales of M@W, that Good Life was a good first single at the time. It's a phenomenally powerful song, and a prime example of the bands current evolutionary status. That being said, its always a bit of a bummer to see your favourite new tunes disappear off the bands playlist, since in a lot of cases, you never hear these tunes on the radio.

In the land of "woulda/shouldas", I was listening to Josephine yesterday and I can't for the life of me figure out why, oh say why?, they wouldn't have introduced this song to a wider audience by releasing it as a single.
I mean it's even got a "bah-baahhhhhh, bu-budda bah-baahhhh-da" in it for people who find lyrics too taxing. And that without compromising some of the best poetry ever Gord's written.
Are We Family? I can live without this song being a single, but I'll grant you that it's a zillion times better than SKU and a half-zillion times better than Heaven.

I think Are We Family is a great tune and that it needs to be played on the radio it's such a beautiful song. the hip usually release at least one slower song from each album. Look at how many people like songs like, long time running, wheat kings, scared, flamenco, bobcaygeon, it's a good life if you don't weaken. I think this could have been a big hit. I question why they don't release some of their songs on the radio, maybe they would boosts some of their record sales.

^ I know that wasn't directed a me personally, but I have to say that I never said anything about how shitty radio is. I was talking more about how shitty SiKU is (comparatively speaking). I'll give you "fresh", I'll give you "different", but I'll take "worst song on the album" in return.
[ok, ok, "my least favourite song on the album" - I recognize that we live in a democracy and apparently on the internet everyone is entitled to their own opinion]
Also, I don't particularly care about the Hip gaining popularity by having radio hits (it wouldn't make me like them any more or any less), but I think it would be swell, on the cosmic-karmic scale of things, if more people in this crazy-mixed-up world had a chance to hear the goodness of "Goodnight Josephine".
