Not really big news, caught in on E-Talk daily tonight, but Dan Akroyd will be the man behind the mic when the Hip are officially inducted into the hall of fame...
Makes sense... SNL, Across the Causeway... seems the man likes to introduce the Hip...

SNL and Across The Causeway were when Aykroyd was there to introduce them and he did the Blues Brothers thing at ATC as well. He also played harmonica during Locked In The Trunk Of A Car there. According to thehip.com's setlist, he also showed up in NYC to play harmonica during Locked on the IBE tour as well.

I believe Dan was also at the Limestone Blues Festival in Kingston, 1999-08-27 when the Hip played.

Dan and the boys are good, good friends.
They were already very close by the time of their SNL gig.
It isn't uncommon for the Hip to be present at Dan's summer cottage parties and mid-90s, they'd usually perform there as well so anyone with a cottage on the same lake as Ackroyd could hear them play or sea-doo by to spy on the party.
