Tonight on CBC Newsworld's "The Passionate Eye" (10:00pm EST), Rheostatics' front-man Dave Bidini's "The Hockey Nomad" is featured...

For any of you who've read the book "The Tropic of Hockey", this sounds like it's essentially the video version of his trek in search for hockey in far-off places (the book is a must-read, btw!)...

Anyway, I mentioned it as "Kinda OT", and couldn't completely chalk it up as a "Non-Hip" topic, due a) to the relationship the band's had with the Rheostatics over the years, and b) the fact the special was directed by a Mike Downie...I may be having a "senior moment" on this one, but isn't Gordie's brother a director (who's done several vids for them) named Mike???

Hummm, Gordie does have a brother named Mike, and I do believe he is a director. He is the homeless guy in the NOIS video, having directed it for the Hip.

Interesting, and I will have to tune into the show.
