Any fans on the beautiful game in the forum? Juve vs. Real just got underway, promises to be quite the match. Myself, I'm a Bayern fan, though I don't expect them to go far in this tournament. Anyone have any picks for the tournament?

I went to Manchester a couple years ago, took in some premier league games it was a blast! Ive been a HUGE soccer fan for years. I have to go with my team, but I say watch out for Barcelona this year. Great thread! :thumb:

For some reason, Arsenal always chokes in Europe... didn't help this week that Campbell, their best defender, was out injured. Plus they have the same problem as Man U... sucky goalkeeping.
Ironic, isn't it, that the only English team to win in Champions League this week was the worst team of the lot currently... Liverpool? And their best player, Gerrard, wasn't even in the lineup. Makes you wonder why they can't show that form in league play.

I really liked what I saw from Olympique Lyon...they completely dominated a strong Werder Bremen side in a hostile environment. I think Oly could surprise. It was also excellent to see a Canadian (Paul Staltieri) in a Champ. League match, even if his team got demolished.

I've only ever been to one premiership match. I was on vacation in Spain last year and saw a match in La Liga in Malaga. It was Malaga vs. Espanyol, which is out of Barcelona. Malaga took the match 5-2. We left just days before Malaga was hit by a torrential rain storm!!

On Christmas Day, I watched Arsenal play Man U with my grandfather. He was born in Wales, is a MASSIVE Arsenal fan, and I gained a new appreciation for the game... didn't hurt that it was a 4-3 thriller either.
He was pointing out aspects of the game I didn't know, and it was fun to see guys tripping each other up with reckless abondon and dirty tackles. It's much rougher than I thought.
As I grow older, I find I have a greater appreciation for the field sports: baseball in particular, but I think I could get into soccer. It's got a long way to go before it escapes the "too european" and "it's a kids game" stigma it has here in NA, but this game might just have legs... what they need is a good labour dispute.

it was on tsn...i think it's rebroadcast at 4 pacific....great game
while Bridge gets injured, Duff is out, loses to Barca Wed, loses to Liverpool in the League Cup. I think it would be funny if they somehow blew the Premiership, too. All the talk of 4 trophies and then go 0-4. Arjen Robben must be the most valuable player on the planet.
