Even if you don't believe in Valentine's Day (the infamous Hallmark-Hershey-FTD conspiracy) you can't deny that love exists, regardless of what it actually is; neurochemical, compatibility or merely physical attraction or whatever.
So with the onset of February 14th (or National Getting-Laid Day) I figured I'd spin a discussion on the best love-song the Hip have come out with. No poll. Just opinions. The song might merely set the mood and not even really be considered a "love-song." It doesn't matter.
I'd have to say Impossibilium based mostly on the lyrics
(It's hard to just pick one)

Sherpa, Trick Rider...
If I ever sucker a broad into a white dress, I'll play one of them from the ghetto blaster in the back of the car as we drive through the chapel.

Fireworks, We hung out together every single moment cause that's what we thought married people do, complete with the grip of artificial chaos and believing in the country of me and you. And I love the end also, this one thing is always supposed to stay, I think this one thing never really goes away.

I'm gonna have to go with Sherpa, a song that always, always makes me think of two people taking on the world.

Evelyn's gotta be up there...
If you must have your way you won't have me
I won't be pushed around I must get free from... (insert name of valentine)
or how bout I'll believe in you...
SHE SAID, "THAT'S IT. THAT'S IT. GET OUT"
fight is definately a love song...
Do you think I bow out cause I think you're right?
Or cause I don't wanna fight?
fully...
"you're gonna miss me."
Wait and you'll see,"
And The Heart of the Mealt is probably the most beautiful love song the hip have written in recent years...
sorry for ruining anyone's happy lovey thread... i'm not much of a romantic these days.

Grace,Too maybe. The "I'm rich, c'mon with me. C'mon, don't worry, I'm total pro."
The Rules because of the music, not lyrics.
Not the Hip, but I think "Lofty Pines" takes the cake. Beautiful lyrics and music.
Borgs, maybe you could add "Vancouver Divorce" to your list.

... i guess i'm going to have to agree with the bulk of you on one of the picks... Sherpa...
... we said we must stay friends or die... and we've died a thousand times since then...
tragically beautiful.

Impossibilium's a great choice, as is Sherpa. Most people equate love songs with slow, sweet, melodies and if that's the case Beautiful Thing and to a certain extent, Put it Off deserve an honorable mention.
For my dollar, The Hip's one true love song is You're Everywhere.

I think it's more a question of what is the best HIP slow song. I'd say "Nautical Disaster" which is just as much a song about a relationship as it is an actual nautical disaster. It's the "Stairway to Heaven" of the HIP and is most conducive to slow dancing. I also think there's something very romatic about "It's A Good Life If You Don't Have To Weakin'"

 I totally disagree if you think Nautical Disaster is a slow song?

cratch: No way should it be considered a "slow" song, have you ever heard it live? go listen to LBU or any Hip boot for that matter and tell me if thats a slow song, no way IMO is it a slow-dancing kind of song, ABAC, Sherpa, Good Life, those are slow songs. And saying its more a question of what is the best slow song I dont agree with either, considering he was asking what was the best "love" song, and that it could be any song. It doesnt necessarily have to be a "sloooow" song to be a love song, you should go back and read the original post again.

probably membership, just because of the chorus, it always reminds me of a couple that has been together/ married for years, and they still have to find a way to love each other.
