Anybody see The Aviator? Didn't look like it was anything special to me, but it got a crapload of nominations... kind of surprising to me.
My opinion is Million Dollar Baby probably should win Best Picture, but we'll see what happens.
I don't see nearly as many movies as I used to. Seems like good movies are finally making a comeback! There are so many movies I'd like to go see out there!!!

I saw Sideways tonight... it was alright for a two hour wine commercial. It was funny. I don't know if it's anywhere as good as say Forrest Gump or Shawshank Redemption, but that's just me...

I agree - i'm sorry but the Oscars are a joke. If Gwyneth Paltrow can get an oscar for Shakespeare in Love, Jim Carrey should have a whole collection of Oscars sitting on his mantelpiece.
As for the animated movies, The Incredibles all the way - that movie was great. :thumb:

I think 'Super Size Me' is up for best doc; I hope it wins; that's a movie that will turn you off junk food forever.

I thought Aviator deserved a bunch of nominations. I don't even like diCaprio but it was a really cool movie, Scorsese totally deserves an oscar of his own after all these years!!
I was happy The Passion mostly got the cold shoulder. Worst thing I sat through this year. Not that I ended up sitting through the whole thing!!

The OSCARS is my fav TV brodcast of the year, it's bigger than the Superbowl for me. And although I'll be watching it to cheer on Super Size Me, I'm shocked that Michael Moore was not nominated and just plain sad that The Passion was not nominated for Best Picture, it was a powerful movie and is easily as solid a film as those nominated for Best Picture. I predict Aviator will win top honors and since the decision not to nomiate the Passion for Best Picture could only have been political, I predict it will win all 3 OSCARS that it was nominated for. This is not the first time a movie didn't get what is deserved at the Academy Awards (Life Is Beautiful and Chocolate should have won best pic in the past).

Michael Moore could not be nominated. The timing of Farenheit 9/11's release to DVD disqualified it, based on the Academy's rules. He knew that, but released it anyway.
