WHISKY AND CHICKEN NUGGETS...
My new year came a few hours early! Here I sit, working a 13 hour night shift as usual, with only a brand new bottle of Whyte and MacKay's twice-aged scotch whisky blend to toast the new year at midnight...
So I walked down the street to find some food earlier, saw nothing open, went about a mile before I found a McDonald's just as they were locking the front doors. I scooted in and as I was ordering a salad (wondering why the heck I'm paying seven bucks for a load of leaves and grass) the manager says "want some fries? How about some chicken nuggets? Maybe an apple pie or two?" Because of course they'll be closed tomorrow and can't hang on to any of it...so now I'm using the whisky to chase free chicken nuggets and apple pies. It's a vile combination but I wouldn't have it any other way! Free food always tastes so much better!!!!

That sounds a lot better than the crap I have here workin' the graveyard - gonna sneak out to the car on my break for a coupla Mooseheads and some chips.

I feel for ya, pal...I'm on the verge of quitting (as soon as I can find a better job). And for the record the chicken nuggets were just as bad as McDonald's ought to be. Or should I say, they ARE bad - I'm not done. There's two more boxes yet, but I'll leave them for the day shift, if they can take them on a sober stomach.
But the Whyte and MacKay's is fantastic. I can't believe I went so long without thinking of it...when I was up in Ontario before Christmas I was eating dinner with a friend I hadn't seen in years, and we were having a wonderful time, and when the place went to close up at midnight the manager stopped by with a free shot each of this great Scotch whisky. "For my happiest customers," says he. It was great, says I. So as soon as I got back I picked up a bottle at the LC and I've been saving it for New Year's. I almost made it! hahaha...

Well, Happy New Year to all!!!
Man, that chicken nugget/ fries story reminds me of last NYE. I hit Sudbury just after 12 and the only thing open was a BK. I went in and ordered a hamburger, no fixin's, no bun. (I was doing the Atkin's thing at the time.) The manager was behind the counter and asked why I was out so late on my own on New Year's Eve. I explained to him that I was on my way back from Saskatoon and had been driving for almost 30 hours straight at that point. He was kind enough to hook me up with a truck load of free eats and coffee. (I didn't have any booze. After all, I was driving.) He made me promise to pull over and rest if I got too tired to drive the rest of the trip home to the Cap. What a nice guy.
Anyway, hope everyone had a great and safe time. Just remember, resolutions are made to be broken.

My four-day binge is over and now I'm drying my stomach-lining out.
There are alot of fuzzy moments that I'd probably rather not remember.
