Just wondering from those who have been to a new years show in the past with the hip, what it will be like. Any different from a regular show? More songs?

from what i've experienced... new years show are pretty similar to regular show except that they start later... as to go through midnight... and they drop more balloons than normal... furthermore gord pops alot more balloons than normal.
it is always exciting to hear what tune it'll be to take everyone into the new year... historically it's been a more chilled out song... they played gems at new years 2000 and long time running i think in 2002.

Anyone recall what show had gordie stick the baloon up his shirt and give birth to it during locked in the trunk?
my mind is fuzzy..i'm thinking new years day 2000...

'02 set was very nicely planned by Sinclair. I noticed all the songs from 11:30 to Midnight fit the theme. "It's the start of another new year," ABAC and "Well worth the wait" just as the balloons fell etc.
Actually, they delayed "Midnight" that night in Copps waiting for Gord to get to that part of the song... In our section we had already done our countdown by the time "HIP New Year" hit at 12:02.
The crowd is usually a little more wasted, as the show goes long and many people spend the pre-show at many of Hamilton's finest establishments enjoying the atmosphere.
Special T-shirts are also a plus. The "Hammer in The New Year" T's from 02 weren't as cool as the '00 show... but this tour has seen some nice merchandise, so I'm hoping for a nice T this time around.
But the biggest difference is the crowd... I always find it more festive for NYE shows, more girls dancing etc. which makes finding somebody to kiss at midnight a little easier

Yup. That was indeed the show. The New Years Eve gig the night before was the one where he popped every single one of the balloons that fell on the stage during a 20-minute version of Meridian. Easily the funniest thing I've ever seen him do.

well i lied, kinda. well if you are into mircobreweries, theres a killer bar about 10 mins from copps called Winking Judge. Just dont expect to find anything from Molson or Labatt's or Bud in there. they will laugh at you

something in hess village could be a possibility. it's basically a side street full of pubs. spent more than a few nights there during my tour of duty in the hammer
one year i even went to hess octoberfest... in september :?
it's also reasonably close (walking distance) to copps. partying at a hotel could also be an option.
