Ok this thread is kind of just personal interest. I was listening to live between us when all of a sudden at the end of one of the verses in Twist My Arm it sounds like Gord says:
Sarnia
I don't know why he would say Sarnia at this point, I just thought it was kind of neat because I'm from Sarnia. After listening to it about ten times I am convinced that is what he is saying. Can anyone confirm?

Theories on a.m.t-h back in 1997 were:
"Sorry, Gord" (an on-stage collision? Some screw-up?)
"Sorry, girl" (to the poor mare in the lyrics)
"Sorry, folks" (to the audience...for something)

I always assumed it was "Sorry, Girl" as in the "broken-down mare" is going to be put down.

I think if you told someone it said Sarnia they would hear Sarnia, and if you told someone it said sorry girl they would hear sorry girl. .
but sorry girl makes infinitely more sense

it almost has to be "sorry girl" because gord would always point his finger to the ground as if he was pointing a gun.

Yeah, he does. He's pointing the finger gun. I'm assuming it's the same on LBU. It certainly sounds like sorry girl.

Huh! Interesting thread. I had always taken it for granted that he says 'Sorry Gord!,' for doing something clumsy on stage, or blowing a cue, or something. But it looks like the weight of evidence is with 'sorry girl.' My bad :mrgreen:

hey wait ... the front page of the Hipbase has a picture of Gord pointing a finger gun at Paul during the Toronto concert ... and they didn't sing Twist My Arm at that show ...
... surely no one here is comparing Paul Langlois to a broken down mare???!
[I used to think it was Sorry Gord, but now I'm pretty sure it's Sorry Girl, cause that makes a little more sense]

Gord pulls the gun on everyone. He shoots Paul dead every night. Its nothing exclusive to TMA.
And yes, it IS without any doubt 'sorry girl'
