i recently made the switch to bell express and was nothing but happy with it until....today...snow...and of course...no signal...just wondered if anybody else with sattelite has this trouble, and should i expect a long, tv-less winter...i'll be pissed if this happens all the time..they promised it wouldn't happen(well...i guess that makes sense, doesn't it?)

My cable bill (for both onDemand digital TV and broadband internet) is absolutely ridiculous but I will continue to pay it because I would go nuts without uninterrupted service. Hell I go nuts every time I start
thinking about going with satellite.
The deals in my area are almost too good to pass up...and that's what brings me back to my senses: anything that sounds too good to be true, probably is.
I hope your current situation is nothing more than an anomolous occurrence and your reception returns soon.

I've been on satellite for about five years now and while there is the odd interruption of service with bad weather, it is no more or no less than with cable.

I guess I've been extremely lucky, then. In the six years I've been using Comcast I've never had more than a hiccup. Now power outages, that's a different story!
I've just never had the courage (Gord's word...) to make the switch. Plus, I'm not too sure I'd want a satellite ISP; wireless connections and their potential to be intercepted frightens me. Nnnnnot that I ever visit any extremist sites or anything... :lol:

The place I used to live only had satellite for TV, internet and phone. And the service was horrible. If my dog sneezed, service would go out. Worse, there was no way to get anything different.
Now I've moved and have Comcast cable(digital) and high speed internet. I would NEVER get satellite service again. EVER!!
I am so spoilled with the high speed internet though. 3Mb is insane.

Here in Alberta I had Bell Expressvu, I would never go to digital cable if I had a choice, but since I am renting, and my new place will not allow satelite I have switched to shaw digital cable.
BY FAR satelite is the way to go.
As for Internet I've alsways had shaw cable internet, my experience has been nothing but good. Downloads have never gone below 100 kb/s and I've been up to 300 kb/s consistenly.
People I know who have DSL say that
it is good as well, consistenly at 100 kb/s and top being 150 kb/s.
