the Bear

I have one question about the Hip: Have they ever played The Bear live? If so, when?
Thanks

If you click on "Song Stats" above you'll see that, at least according to what is in the Hipbase archive, they've never played it live.

I think I may be one of the few people who have ever heard it live. Duluth, Minnestoa, July 9th, 2000. They played a tiny restaurant called Grandma's Sports Garden. We heard them do it during soundcheck, but they didn't play it for the show. Kate Fenner was singing vocals on it, while Gord D tried to play bass. You can read more about the experience here:

So you actually have that soundcheck recorded??? That's Awesome. Is there any chance you could find time to make it available? At least The Bear?

cool story Rory! Big Grin

the bear is one of my favourites off M@W, is there a specific reason they don't play this song live?

how did the tape of the soundcheck turn out btw? i guess it's probably the only way to ever hear it live!

I think the story goes that on the record, Gord S is playing guitar. Rather than switch up instruments or have Rob take lead, they just don't play it. I think that's how it goes.

When I was driving home from the rexall in edmonton wednesday night all they played was hip songs until the late night show came on. Never in my life had i heard so many hip songs on the radio at one time.

Rory sent that to me before as it's one of my favourite Hip songs, it's pretty muddy sounding, but awesome to hear regardless...

Muddy or not, I would LOVE it if anyone would be kind enough to host the soundcheck. It's one of my favourite Hip songs, too!
