Rest in peace to a woman who dedicated 25 years of her life to the poor of Iraq. Born in Ireland and married to an Iraqi she was head CARE's <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.care.org/">http://www.care.org/</a><!-- m --> Charity Operations in Iraq for 12 years. If any of us achieve a fraction of what she did we'd have lived with dignity and compassion.

I am astonished the Iraqis murdered her. It really baffles me. If there was any person in the entire "Western world" who exemplified helping their people, it was her. This is such a terrible shame...I really thought she'd escape alive after Al Qaeda told everybody they would release her if she fell into their hands. I hope they find whoever did this and crucify them.

Her murder is very suspicious in the least, she was obviously loved by the Iraqis, it makes no sense to kidnap her to begin with. Iraqis know her, she's lived there for 30 years, she was against the Invasion, she spoke out against the sanctions after 91. It's an execution that would obviously change Iraqi setiment to be being far more against the current perpetrators of the abductions of foreigners. Not to mention no group ever claimed to abduct her. She was shot in the head, almost humanely compared to the end much of the other hostages have faced. Her killing doesn't seem to fall into the patterns of the other ones. Whomever did it for whatever reason, it is truly sickening and disheartening.

Just shows how sick some people are. Even terrorists were calling for her to be released.
Very heartbreaking and unbelievable.
