Anyone know the reason this show was cancelled? Lack of ticket sales?Too bad...I had tickets in the 1st row...oh well...it happens. At least there's Winnipeg the next night (although no front row tickets).

From the Ticketbastard site...

The Hip have never cancelled a show unless it's for a really good reason. I have no doubt they'll make it up to the good folks of Brandon.

I feel for you guys, that must suck to miss a concert when you had great seats.

This sucks I had 4th row seats. I kept checking Ticketmaster and I know there was alot of (good) seats left still. The floor took like two weeks to sell out.

Oh well, still have Winnipeg the next night.

I am fuckin pissed. After 14 years of following these guys I finally had my first chance to be front row at a hip show. Now they fuckin cancel it. A whole three weeks in advance. This is terrible. Fuckin grey cup bullshit. Unless someone died or got really sick three weeks in advance this excuse is bullshit. I feel betrayed. Tons of fuckin states shows and then a short joke through their home country where they are loved. They seriously need to rethink their management before they go down the toilet. If you alienate your largest fan base what good can come from that?

I agree. I'm surprised that they'd rather be a three song half time act than play to a small crowd of die-hard fans.

Is it just me, or could anyone else NOT see Pearl Jam cancelling a show that was already scheduled three weeks before to play a 15 minute set at the Super Bowl?

haha, you've got to be kidding right? look at the sparse canadian dates for this tour; i think its pretty obvious where their hearts lie (south of the border). i'll bet you they WON'T make it up to those of us that had tickets for that show. my friends and i were prepared to drive a long way to the brandon show and we had amazing tickets (3rd row, floor, center).
the fact that they were playing 2 dates in manitoba on this weak tour seemed too good to be true. and it was.
please dont get me wrong, i love the hip and have seen them 6 times since 1995. i've been going crazy with excitement for the last 3 weeks for this show. needless to say, finding out they cancelled it to play 3 songs at the grey cup is a dissapointment. fuck.

Can anyone confirm the Grey Cup is the reason for the cancelling? They play back to back show all the time, whats to stop the Hip from flying from Ottawa to Brandon at 9:00 PM and getting there at 12:00 AM, 19 hours before show time... that doesn't make sense... maybe its the lack of ticket sales.

When I phoned Ticketmaster they said it was cancelled due to a "scheduling conflict" so I'm sure it's becasue of the Grey Cup.

I'm not a Pearl Jam fan but I would think that if given the chance they would rather play 3 songs at the Super Bowl then in front of 100,000 die hard fans. We are talking 200 Million people watching the Super Bowl world wide .

Now for the Hip playing the Grey Cup it doesn't make any sense to me . How many people actual watch the Grey Cup? They only good thing for me is I'll see it on the CBC in Buffalo. I'll be watching 3 Hip sings then turn back to the NFL to catch a reall football game.

I have never had a show cancel so I don't know your pain..sorry

The scheduling conflict could also be with the venue....
