It's over and done with...ANOTHER WILD CARD WINS THE WORLD SERIES!!!
At 11:40pm Eastern Time on October 28, 2004, The Curse was lifted. Babe Ruth can sleep a little more soundly knowing his name won't be called every post season for the next millennium.
And they won it in style...the BoSox are the new Men With Brooms...masterfully sweeping the best team in baseball for the past YEAR. Who knew after 86 years, they would shut out the top team in the major leagues two games in a row, to sweep it, in the opponent's building?!
This is such a great story, especially after last year's debacle, I feel privileged to have had it happened during my generation!

This is a sad day in sports. I wish Fallon would keep his geeky self off of television. All the world needs is to give those arrogant hick Bostonians something else to brag about. Sad day indeed.

Sour grapes aside, the Sox played quite well this series and clearly deserved to win. Their defensive play was tight, bailing them out in tight spots. It also helped that for some reason the St Louis pitchers disappeared without a trace...you gotta wonder how a team like that could have their first 3 game starters last 2, 4, and 4 innings.
But whatever the reason for their win, the monumental upset of the Yankees AND the World Series coming in the same year is truly remarkable. Congrats to the city of Boston.

Congrats to all Red Sox fans in Hipbase land. That was pretty damn convincing, and of course the win over the Yankees was one for the ages.

why? i garauntee their kid would be laughably better looking than yourself...and i'm not just saying that because i'm pissed the sox won, i'm saying it because Jimmy Fallon a fine looking young man, Drew Barrymore is a beautiful woman, and because i've always imagined you to be a very unattractive and possibly foul smelling individual. yes, a smell-based insult, you heard it from me first, you guys insist i have no class, so i figure i'll act it, and maybe piss you off a bit in doing so, cheers BOSOX, choke on your champagne while Boston burns to the ground....
