I noticed at the Rochester show last night that they had mics setup on each side of the stage facing the audience. I can only assume they are taping the audience to add to their recordings.
Are they taping each and every show for posssible release?
Maybe they will not release all of them - but at least they have all of them.
And yes, I know they record all they shows anyway, but I thought I would just point out the audience mics.

I was wondering, is the clip-on mic something new? Might this be part of the recording process, to get a better vocal sound? Didn't look like it was gonna work the way he kept losing it/dropping it&dancing the F out of it.

How come they're not using the soundboard? Gord S says they record every show they play, why bother with actual mics? I'm not a sound expert, so I really don't know what advantage additional mics offer...seems to me a little clip-on is more likely to get overloaded and blown out.

I don't want to rain on our parade here as I too want every show they ever played EVER to be released BUT...

I would think that the process would be to tape every show and release them based on what show they prefer (ie. sounds best, they feel they rocked out on, best setlist, rants, whatever their criteria is.) I dont think bands go on tour and say "ok were going to tape and release the shows on the 4th, 12th 15th and 27th" What if the sound sucks? What if there is a power failure? What if the recording setup crashes? I dont think it happens often...but what if? The prudent way would be to record them all and unfortunately, just because they may tape them all...they wont release them all. My 2 cents.

Well I wouldn't mind a tour retrospective, even if it meant not getting all the shows. I would LOVE for them to release a compilation of every single individual song they played on the tour. They could pick their best sounding, best music-quality, most on-fire show, and follow it up with songs performed at other shows. Many artists have done this, it's a great way to give people the best of all worlds. It would sure sell well! People from every show would want the songs from their show.

They are using the soundboard - the mics they are using is to add the audience to the recording.

I think you may be confusing Gord's in-aer monitors with a clip-on microphone......?

Also, with modern feedback cancelling systems, they do sometimes mic the audience to detect and buck feedback. The mics could be for that or to record the audience response to mix-in during post-production. Granted, Vol.1 of the Live Series sounded to me like it was straight off-the-board, without any post-production. IF they were recording all tracks seperately with post-production in mind, I don't think you'd hear the dialing-in of the sound mix on the Live Tracks. You can definately hear the sound mix improving with each track on the Toronto show. The first 4 tracks are pretty shakey.

Yes, they record every show. No, every show will not be released. According to Gord S., they are working on NYC for vol. 2 (release date tbd).

In Chicago, I asked Gord S. to consider releasing Philadelphia since it was 1) a great show (assuming the recording has no glitches) and 2) had the most different setlist from TO of any show to date (9 different songs out of 23). He said those were good points and would look into it.

The waist pack is definitely for his in-ear monitors. And the mics on the stage aimed at the audience have been present at every show I've been to. I just think that now, we as fans, are more tuned in to looking for recording equipment.

The Toronto show must have had some post production, as Gord's voice is exceptionally clear during certain "rants" and it wasn't that way at the show.

As well, there is crowd noise mixed into the Toronto release; have a listen to the girl asking for "hundredth meridian!!" before Bobcaygeon.

Looked to me like there was a little black microphone sticking out of his shirt? I could be wrong, the eyes ain't what they used to be...Could have been an alien coming through his chest?
