i am looking at this camera

A 3.2 megapixel camera is alright, Cannon makes printers though, so I'm not sure how good they'd be on a digital camera, however theyh are a respectable name, I'd go for it overall. The 2 'AA' battery thing stumps me, I'd think they would get eaten up in no time.

Canon may make printers, but they've made cameras since at least the 1930s, and they currently make the leading digitals for the professional market.

I can't tell you squat about that model, but Canon makes great cameras.

I'm not sure about that model, but I have the Canon S400 and I love it.
I'd spend the extra cash and get a decent one as it will last you longer.

And Mark, Canon was in the camera business well before anyone had even heard of injet printers, or even computers for anyone but Nasa

I use a Canon Powershot A80 (cNet Review) and I'm very happy with the simplicity, functionability, and picture quality. I shot over 250 Hi-Res pics (using a 256 MB card, not included) at the Detroit show and didn't drain the batteries (4 AA). It works well as a "point & shoot" on automatic and has 13 different individually adjustable settings such as AV,TV, night, macro, portrait, panorama, etc.

I'm not sure what it runs north of the border, but it's a few months old and I paid around $250. It may not seem like much, but there's a huge difference between 3.2 MP and 4.0 MP, just like there is between 4, 5, & 6 MP.

I checked a digital camera review website that I use time to time. They have it listed as "Expected not released" Not sure what that means.

I believe the only concern may be that SD (secure digital) cards are typically a little more expensive than CF (compact flash). In my case, a 256 MB SD card cost 40% more than a 256 MB CF card. As I understand it, it's because the SD "footprint" is so much smaller than the CF. As long as you don't intend to use multiple cards for storage media and instead upload pics to your PC, either should work just as well and the investment is justified.

Looks like a great camera!

I've owned two Olympus digital Cameras and I highly reccomend them. I highly suggest getting a memory card in addition to the one that comes with the camera if you plan on taking lots of pictures.

I suggest you spend a couple bucks more and get a camera that uses rechargeable Lithium Ion batteries. As well, look into a camera that can handle TIFF's as well as JPEG's - unless you are only intending to post your pics on the web, and print at smaller sizes.

Furthermore, I read (and I can't find the article right now) that the digital camera industry is moving to standadized memory - and IIRC they are going with SD instead of CF. Check that out if you plan on keeping it for a longer period of time.

I have a A80 aswell, great camera. Highly recommend any Canon product.

And I definitely agree with Chris, invest in a camera that uses a lithium ion battery.

1. You'll save all the money you'll spend on normal batteries
2. If you use rechargable AA batteries, your batteries will run dry quickly
3. Lithium ion batteries last much longer than non-rechargable AA batteries
4. Lithium ion batteries are virtually weightless compared to normal batteries.

BTW, I have the Pentax S4i (<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.pentaximaging.com/products/product_details?reqID=1020&subsection=optio">http://www.pentaximaging.com/products/p ... tion=optio</a><!-- m -->) and I love it! I would strongly recommend it.
