Everyone know the song and we all know that New Orleans is sinking. What kind of crowds do the Hip get in the deep South? I have heard less then 1000, even less than 500 sometimes.

Well, as for the HOB show in Orlando, there were probably just over 1000 people, but the place is small, so it looked packed.

the impression i get is that the hip will favour smaller, more tame venues so that Gord's ramblings won't be drowned in crowd noise, and the softer songs work better. i also know for a fact that despite complete indiference from the mainstream, the hip have big pockets of fans, especially in NY and Michigan, that allow them to sell out stadiums in the south. they earned these fans, many of them hardcore, through the quality of their touring alone. also, there is a deffinite fan presence in Australia for some reason. any ausies on this board?

I agree with high, the furthest south I have been to see them is seattle...once in 93' and there was less than 1000 people there which was very cool, and this year when there was about 4000 i would guess. It would be great to see them with 500 or so fans, with that said I still love the arena setting......
