I'm new to this board and I'm hoping to tape The Hip at The Quest on 10/15. I need to know the band's current taping policy??? Is open taping still being allowed??? I sure hope so and I can't wait to see all you Candians drive south for the show!!! Thanks! James

I'm gonna be at that show too. Good luck taping. I'd love to get a copy after.

I'll also be making the drive, 8 hours south(ish) from Winnipeg!
Can I bring you some media so that a copy would cost you nill?

Audio and video taping is fine with the band. As a taper, I recommend going early in the afternoon to the venue to verify that you'll be able to get in with your gear. If they say "No" ask them to verify the policy with The Hip's tour manager; and wait for an answer. The venue staff will always be able to get a hold of the tour manager.
Also, be nice and act mature. It goes a long way with venue staffers.

Have mini-disc -- will travel.
Heading down to the Mini-Apple from Fargo <insert "Yah" jokes here>
maybe something for those familiar with the club...
taping set-up... best location would be:
A) In front of soundbooth iwth other tapers
B) Upstairs balcony someplace
c) Doesn't matter in that place
And... is there a good place for a pre-show huddle of Hip fans?
Three days and counting...!!!
P.S. - Even of club is "acceptable" for taping - I still try to stealth in the equipment.

I'm from Mpls and a good place to meet is either Brothers Bar on 5th and First Ave or The Loon at 5th and First Ave. The Quest is just down the street from there. Brothers will have 2 for 1 drinks till 7 and The Loon has a good happy hour till 6. The Loon has better food.
I've taped Les Claypool and Robert Randolph at The Quest just last month. As long as the staff is aware of the taping policy their cool with it. I taped just in front of the soundboard with nice results. I'll be using Neumann KM 140 mics> Lunatec V2 > DAP 1. I get off work at 5 and hope to be in line around 5:30. Pick a meet up stop at either bar. See ya all there!!! Peace, Jim

5:30 at the club it is.
I'll prolly have to go up top.
Found out the only mic I'll have is
an unweildy - but damned impressive -
Senheiser ME66 into a minidisc
Lagers after. *grin*
Unless I get talked into a Cheapo Vinyl run
before they close.

Well, t'was a fine show indeed!
Results from the tapers?
What does it take to get a copy?
If you would have joined up you would have missed all this great rock and roll. They are still a few years away from rock and roll in Iraq.
