One the way home (I believe after) from the Portland show, Steve (vicariousmartyr) got temporarily delayed by a law enforcement officer (what nice guys) for speeding.
He was going 84 mph in a 55 zone (I think it was 55, could have been 65).
My question is: What is the fastest anyone here has been pulled over - OR what is one messed up/weird police story you have?
Mine - When I was a senior in high school I was pulled over going 102 mph in a 55 zone.

Been stopped a few times, never had a ticket. Eat crow, be REAL polite, it goes a long way with the 5-0.
Closest call was coming home from the Hamilton NYE show: No license or ID on me, car stinking of booze (I was clean, but my friends smelt like veteran hobo's) my dad's car, doing 70 in a 40... it's a real rush to get off with a warning.
ohhh I forgot. How about driving down a three lane one way street, in the center lane, in the city of Minneapolis and trying to turn left and hitting another car!

my buddy just got pulled over on friday in hamilton. He was caught going 124 kph in a 70 zone. needless to say, he has a $500 speeding ticket to pay for. His insurance is expected to increase by 4 times the amount he was paying.

I got pulled over a year ago on Island Park Drive here in Ottawa by the RCMP... I have never met a bigger jackass then the cop who pulled me over that night. The cop tailgated me until I pushed myself into the 60 KM range in a 40 KM zone. The first thing the cop tells me is that the vehicle I'm driving is reported stolen, he caught me speeding on Byron avenue, and I did an illegal turn on to Scott street... all three are flat-out lies... I hadn't even been on the two streets he mentioned, the cop was full of shit, and I let him know it... of course, once the mess was all sorted out I preceeded to infact make an illegal turn off the street I was pulled over on... pulled over twice in five minutes... damn I hate cops...

appeal that in court, i'm not sure the RCMP have the ability to charge for road offenses, as transport is often controlled by the province.

The cop let me off the hook for the illegal turn... but Ottawa is a unique city with three governing police authorities... theres of course the Ottawa police... theres the OPP Ottawa Highway Division... and the RCMP which regulates crown owned highways and streets, mainly the parkways, Island Park Drive, half of downtown, and anywhere there is a federal government building... one of the many other times I have been pulled over by the RCMP I tried to show interest in his profession by asking questions relating to jurisdictin... it was both informative and costly... I got a $165 ticket... I'm pretty sure Ottawa is the only city with three fully active police councils who get off on busting speeders going 20KM over the speed limit, but I could be wrong... and everytime I've been pulled over I think to myself, "Man, right now a bank's being robbed, a husband is beating his wife and theres a drug deal on Bank Street... why me?"... but wouldn't you know it, the cops are ultimately just sales people, as they do have a quota to make on speeders...

I was pulled over for going through a light that was changing from green to yellow. I had just gotten my full license and was on my way to an audition. It was dusk, still bright enough to see into my car, but the cop had to pull a tough guy act and use a flashlight. When I accidentally handed him my insurance card instead of my registration, he yelled at my for wasting his time. He said he was "going to go easy on me" and give me a warning. Jackass.

Great thread Dana, glad to know Im the inspiration behind it!
It was a 60 zone in which it happened. Thing is the I-5 switches back and forth between 60 and 70 seemingly randomly throughout the state of Washington. It must have gone back and forth at least 10 times. Yes, I still would have been speeding were it in a 70, but a much less harsh penalty would have been incurred, Im sure.
And I got the feeling the trooper was very proud of himself
