Those are pretty standard rules, but that doesn't mean we are out of luck.
At Wasaga, they had big signs at every gate saying the same thing, however, just prior to show time, someone from The Hip's camp got them to cross out "No video or recording devices"
Fingers crossed.

I emailed the CFGK. Let's hope I get a response:
----------------------------------
Hello,
I noticed the following posting on you website regarding the upcoming concert:
Some things you need to know:
- There is no re-entry once you are in the grounds of the concert venue.
- For the safety of all attending "Across the Causeway", the following items are not allowed into the Royal Military College grounds:
- No umbrellas
- No blankets
- No lawn chairs
- No strollers
- No pets
- No hard-sided coolers
- No alcohol
- No cans
- No bottles
- No professional cameras
- No video or recording devices
- One sealed bottle of water is allowed
- Bring your sunscreen - show goes rain or shine!
Most of the bands (The Hip, The Sadies, Hugh Dillon Redemption Choir, The Spades) support fans making personal recordings of their performances. I have recorded The Hip on previous occasions, and was planning to record the performances on Sunday of the bands mentioned above. Could you please provide clarification on the guidelines listed above, or modify them to allow recording?
Thank you,
Chris Kirkpatrick

Well it didn't take long to get a response:

My apologies but that is not within our jurisdiction. The restriction was made as there are no hard objects allowed on the concert grounds and cameras, both still shot and video, are considered to be hard objects and will be confiscated at the front gate.

Bummer Chris.
But on a lighter note, I love this part:

I wonder if things will change if the Hip are aware of the news of no recorders. they usually get that rule fixed rather quickly,

From what I can gather, it's all about the venue. The mere fact that RMC is allowing the ground of the College to be used for a "ROCK show" is a HUGE thing here in Kingston. I believe most likely the the rules have been set in order to respect the property as much as possible.
just my 2 cents worth
