trolls
#1

"The only way to deal with trolls is to limit your reaction to reminding others not to respond to trolls.

When you try to reason with a troll, he wins. When you insult a troll, he wins. When you scream at a troll, he wins. The only thing that trolls can't handle is being ignored."

I cut and pasted this from here: http://members.aol.com/intwg/trolls.htm

I think it's hilarious that this article has even been written, but it just goes to show ya that it's a real issue. This board had been a pretty safe place from this kinda shit for a long time, but it's enevitable that trolls will turn up as the board gets more exposure.

Anyway, the easist way to deal with garbage on forums is to just ignore it. Responding is just like throwing fuel on the fire. Unless you're a modetor, then I guess you can do what you want.

I suppose by posting this I'll be opening myself up to an attack by some, so as a disclaimer I'd like to state that this is not directed to any one user and in keeping with the theme of the post I will not be responding to any nonsense attacks. Wink

I wonder if trolls know they are trolls....
Like crazy people certainly don't think they're crazy....
Ya think the same thing applies here?

That's what the purpose of my poll was. I am sure he knows now. Like I said, I don't necessarily want him banned, I just wanted him to stop the silliness...and clearly everybody agreed with me.

Yeah, I agree, Grooveless; I didn't want him to be banned or anything like that and silliness is good most of the time, makes people laugh and stuff, but that wasn't silliness, that was just annoying. If it was well thought-out, i.e. "PM of the Hipbase", or it was Seinfeld-ish situational stuff where something happens right out of the blue, i.e. "Who's Bobby Baker?"... but those polls looked like they were spur-of-the-moment.... To err is human, to forgive is divine.... I've made an ass out of myself on here once or twice....

Yes, more than once I've been glad that people here have either deficient long-term memory or extraordinary patience...I've said a couple (!) or objectionable things and people here always seem happy to forgive and forget if, in the end, you're a Hip fan and a good person overall.

Due to recent activity, I have dug this old thread up to reiterate the thought of: ignore those that bug you. If you feed the fire, it will only get bigger.

in the spirit of this old thread I have to ask where is Lord Brazle and Grooveless? Have they turned into Maroon5 fanatics or something?

Come back we miss you!

Imagine a world before the "beginning was the word.”

Groveless is alive and well. I chat with him every once in a while on MSN. He's a very busy guy lately.

I've been resurrected...

I moved down here to Haliburton Lake and had to endure two months without internet (the closest thing I had to technology was a chainsaw) and I've been playing lumberjack and stuff, clearing some property. I'm officially an expert at weilding an axe, too... and, of course, a little more stream-lined than I was before.... lol...

I have a lot of threads to read. Sad
