Hi guys,

After the official unofficial tour dates were posted here, I asked some questions on what venue would be best to see the Hip in (small, high chance of meeting them afterwards, etc.) and the DC show was recommended to me (at the 9:30 club).

However, since then I've been contemplating going to the Kingston show instead. I'm just wondering which show you guys think is a better idea for me (given the limited student funds and thus both not being an option). Is it better to watch the Hip in their home town again (and BTW, I love Matt Good too) or is it better to see the Hip in the small venue? I'm still leaning towards the latter, but I thought I'd check with those who have experience in both areas first.

i vote for both shows

then you get the big huge crowd and the tiny club crowd. All very exciting. Not to mention Matt Good rules.

I agree that until you see the Hip in a small club you'll wonder what that is like, but.....

1) I actually prefer seeing them in large venues. I enjoy being part of a 10 000 strong crowd that knows every word to every song over the small club experience.

2) The Hip rarely play Kingston; this might be a once in a lifetime experience; they play small club dates in the US every tour.

3) Try to catch them in Syracuse or Cleveland. Getting to either of those is much cheaper than getting to DC. So you could see them at both a small club and in Kingston for the same price as going to D.C.

4) I would expect the chances of hearing something rare are greater at the Kingston show than any other show they'll ever do in the future.

5) Roadtrips are waaaaaay expensive.

6) Is a 4-second conversation with the band as they rush out to their tour bus worth the expense to you?
