Need a hand with a flash effect. Here's what I would like to do:

Take a straight line like this: -
and have it morph into a curved line like this: ~

Normally I would just convert the initial straight line into a symbol, go 25 frames down and insert a keyframe and then use the free transform on the symbol to whatever, and then tween it. But when it's converted to a symbol, you lose the option to use the curve tool on the line so I can't do what I want it to do.

I'm sure there's a way, but I don't know all the tricks (yet).

I have neaver played with flash, but I am woundering if flash is a app. that you can hack your way through? Or you should take a class in?
I would like to learn flash.

Tanks anyway, I figured it out on my own.

As far as learning flash goes, you're probably better off hacking through it and reading the included tutorials (this is how i'm learning) and online tutorials, or pick yourself up a Flash reference/tip & tricks book. The online stuff on the macromedia page is excellent.

There are probably different levels of classes.. basic/intermediate/advanced that could help you out, but by the time you've paid for the classes and books to go with them, you've spent a lot of money... just get the books and go it alone.

Like any advanced piece of software, the basic techniques can be learned by just mucking around. After you've realized your full potential through hacking it out, books, and then courses.
