Really Interesting New Article

I kinda feel sorry for the band and how they're being received here in Canada. In Violet Light is a brilliant album. It just doesn't fit into today's musical climate. "Its's A Good Life..." is a phenomenal song, but it doesn't sound like anything else that is popular right now. To me it has kind of a "Grace, Too" feel to it, and I think if it was released five years ago, it would have been a huge hit.

I could be wrong, but IVL is alot different than anything The Hip have done in alongtime. But then again, who gives a shit what the critics say.

I need 2 Kingston Tickets, please help.

I agree that we shouldn't care what the critics think, but I just find it disgusting that the same guy who gave Papa Roches new album 4 stars, goes and bashes In Violet Light.

Apparantly there are critics around with very bad taste...

I've read quite a few reviews of IVL since its release. Although I don't know the country of origin for all of them, every review that I've seen, without exception, has been glowing. I don't go out of my way to read reviews, or subscribe to music magizines, or anything like that, but I've been amazed by the amount of positive IVL comments that I've just accidently stumbled across.

If Robby is right that Canadian critics have been bashing this album, its news to me. Anyway, the music speaks for itself, and personally I just can't stop listening!

Here's a review of the Monday night Calgary show by the same guy who wrote that article: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.canoe.ca/JamConcertsR2Z/tragicallyhip_092302-sun.html">http://www.canoe.ca/JamConcertsR2Z/trag ... 2-sun.html</a><!-- m -->

Just for perspective here's a review from someone who's seen a few different shows on this tour: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.killerwhaletank.com/rory/saja1.htm">http://www.killerwhaletank.com/rory/saja1.htm</a><!-- m -->

Here's yet another interesting article from the canoe site.

It seems that Bobby Baker's doing a lot of interviews as they roll across the country. He was on the radio yesterday here in Calgary talking about all this stuff as well.
