The beginning of Meanstreak reminds me alot of the beginning of Locked in the Trunk........I think Heart of the Melt sounds alot like Fire in the Hole.......a bit of Grace's guitars in Gus, and no-doubt a bit of Emperor Penguin in New Orleans is Beat.

Solely on the way the songs fade out, VS reminds me of Blow at High Dough. Just the endings.

They are played using the exact same guitar chords.

And as Mansized Eldorado mentioned, there is a total Wherewithal vibe flowing through it as well.

It's obvious...Gus is Grace, Three! Smile

Gus Intro is almost exactly like Grace (the tempo and guitar riff). It would be hard for me to believe that not everyone heard that right away, no?
The outro solo is very similar to Tiger the Lion.

Heart of the Melt reminds me Fire (when Fire gets going). I keep thinking Gord is going to say the 'turn the bucket over' line.

End of VS solo is similar to Blow.

I totally agree with Gus sounding like Grace at the beginning and Tiger the Lion at the end. I thought I was just a little crazy. I'm glad i'm not.

I can see the VS and Blow similarities. If only for the sweet slide guitar.

But I dont' hear the RITFW and heart. I will have to listen again.

Perhaps it's safe to say that's a yet-to-be-released track! Smile

I think Summer's Killing Us sounds a lot like Puttin' Down, which is possibly the reason I don't care for it too much. (I didn't care for Putting Down either). I find the chord structure, the singing style, and also the little pauses in between the chorus & the verse very similar. Anyone else notice this?

i think summer is a far superior song...(still don't understand the lack of excitement towards SKI....)

I've found myself thinking of the middle instrumental section of Nautical Disaster during the last half of Mean Streak.

Summer is definitely a better song, I'll give ya that. It's not that I hate it or anything. It's a catchy tune. I just don't think it's their best.
