So...... this might sound silly. Do I need a passport? This is a serious question. I'm flying to Saskatoon next Thrusday. Do I need a passport? I have gotten mixed answers on the internet.

No, I do believe there is an agreement of some sort between the US and Canada. I have flown both ways and have just used normal id (Birth Certificate, etc.) If you have one already you may as well bring it; if not, then don't worry about it.

Anything that is poof of your citizenship. So i driver's license does not work since its a state ID.

I think you need a photo ID and a birth certificate (or other official document proving your citizenship) or a passport for crossing the border. I've never been asked for proof of citizenship when travelling into the US, but I've heard that they can refuse entry if you don't have the proper ID.

I am Canadian living in the US...done this US/Canada fly and drive thing a hundred times. You need an ORIGINAL birth certificate and a valid ID like a driver's license. No passport required.

I'm never asked for ID when going to/from Canada. Just where are you going? How long? Sometimes not even that.

canada will allow most people in the country its going to the states that you really need proper id hahaha

I'm telling you, all you need is a valid driver license. I cross over at least once a month (I live 10 miles from the Canada) I crossed once in WA state to go to Vancouver and didn't get ID'd either. They were asking a lot more question right after 9-11, but it is pretty much back to normal now.
