Stickboy had suggested a top 10 songs list, and said he might start a thread just to see everyone's list and how they differ...well sorry buddy, I can't wait, wicked idea though...And I know for many this is an impossible task, and I'm sure I'm missing some too...you just take your best shot I suppose...Can't wait to read these...

1)Nautical Disaster
2)Little Bones
3)Greasy Jungle
4)Dire Wolf
5)Cordelia
6)Courage
7)38 Years Old
8)Locked in the Trunk of a Car
9)Something On
10)Chagrin Falls

Those 10 come from a list of 36 under consideration; I don't think I've been able to fully digest the new album yet hence the lack of songs from there, though Josephine and nashville are up there i think; Also left off Meridian, 50 Missian Cap, Impossibilium, ABAC, 700 ft. Ceiling, Dark Canuck... Man, I think I'm gonna be sick. Off to work, looking forward to reading others.

This is a tough call and I think my list evolves every month. The Hip are amazing that way. Anyhoo, here is my top 10 right now:

1. Locked in the Trunk of a Car (will always be my #1)
2. Nautical Disaster
3. Vapour Trails
4. Fully Completely
5. The Luxury
6. So Hard Done By

[lord brazle]

My top ten totally wavers like the crickets.
I can give ya a top five of my current addictions...
(Cuz I'm bored, my choices are lines from the songs)

1. "...ya sound demented..."
2. "...and a bat sees a bug with the sound of a linger..."
3. "...hard, huge and haunted..."
4. "... with it's gallery gods..."
5. "...it's like I was born never touching the ground..."

[joshwayy]

Awesome lists, mine too changes depending on the mood, I've been in a Hip kinda mood lately(more so than normal since the new release). It's cool to find like kinds/(minds). In my ever waged war to get new converts to the band, I think this thread is going to be useful in arranging mixed cd's.

[prz]

This is such a hard list to make. These are in no particular order.

1. grace too
2. poets
3. flamenco
4. pigeon camera
5. courage
6. wheat kings
7. trickle down
8. long time running
9. at the hundredth meridian
10. another midnight

[Killer Whale Tank]

Let's see...a few of these stand to change, but the bulk of this list is pretty much fixed in my mind:

1. 'New Orleans is Sinking.' A cliched choice, but come on: THE definitive Hip tune.
2. 'Nautical Disaster.' High on many of these lists, I notice. 'Those left in the water got kicked off my pantleg...' Brrr.
3. 'Poets.' Toe-tappingly cool.
4. 'Scared.' Downie's best lyric?
5. 'Locked in the Trunk of a Car.' Best combination of intro and exit on any Hip tune...
6. 'So Hard Done By.' Another candidate for 'best lyric.'
7. 'You Are Everywhere.' It's early, but this one is in the running.
8. 'Titanic Terrarium.' Downie at his most visionary.
9. 'At The Hundreth Meridian.' It just kicks my sorry arse, every time.
10. 'Montreal.' A sentimental choice of sorts, but I really wish they'd left this on Road Apples. It's blood-curdling.
10. 'Fiddler's Green,' because it's so great AND so underrated.

Which reminds me, we should start a thread on 'most underrated Hip tunes.'
