Labatt Blue/Tragically Hip commercial...
#1

Anyone else seen this commercial? Just saw it tonight and it exclusively featured The Hip with Summer is Killing Us. Didn't even make mention of the other artists or songs.

Of course we all have the song, but I will still try my best to get that cd!

I think I caught a glimpse of it running in from the other room when I heard a voice say "Tragically Hip."

On it, did it have some guy loading a projector or something and the tape ribbon starts spewing out of it? I saw a Sum41 CD dropping into a 28-case at the end...

I wonder what the Hip CD looks like.....

Yep I saw that too. I would love to have the CD but I'm not going to go out and buy a whole case of Blue.

I ran across the 3 different cases that the Labatt CD's come in. As i recall the actual CDs are nothing special as far as graphics -- just text.

one really dumb question, why is Jet in a Labbatt Blue promotion? Arent they an English band? It just seems weird for a Canadian company having a non-canadian band in their Canadian beer promotions?

Jet are Aussie...

I will not give up. My face is set,my gait is fast,my goal is heaven,my road is narrow,my way is rough,my companions are few,my guide is reliable,my mission is clear. I cannot be bought, compromised, detoured, lured away, turned back, diluted or delayed. I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of adversity, negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity,or meander in the maze of mediocrity. I will not give up,shut up or slow down....Blessed Be!

New music from Tragically Hip coming to beer cases in four provinces

Canadian Press
Thursday, June 17, 2004

TORONTO (CP) - For many Canadians, a beer in hand and the Tragically Hip on the stereo is what hot summer nights are all about. Add Our Lady Peace, Sum 41 and Aussie rockers Jet to the mix and you just might have a party.

Live versions of old favourites and never-before-heard songs from those bands are coming soon to beer cases in Ontario, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and P.E.I. From the Tragically Hip, fans will get a taste of their forthcoming album with a three-song sampler CD featuring the track Heaven Is a Better Place Today, backed by in-concert versions of In Bobcaygeon and Music (at) Work.

The previously unreleased Not Afraid is offered by Toronto's Our Lady Peace, supported by live takes of Do You Like It and In Repair. Oshawa's Sum 41 rocks out with Moron, Over My Head (Better off Dead) and No Brains.

Jet - the only non-Canadian band - reinterprets their hit Are You Gonna Be My Girl as an acoustic number, followed by Bruises and Hey Kids.

In Ontario, fans can find one of the four CDs in specially marked cases of Labatt Blue starting June 21. Beer drinkers on the East Coast will have to wait until July 1 for a taste.

I've seen another ad, featuring just an animated beer case with "Heaven" playing in the background. It then cuts to a couple of idiots in a studio for some attempted "humour." Seriously beer companies, just stick to chicks and insinuated sex.

Yeah.
Ya see the dumbass commercial for the molson cold shots where the guys like "she's got hungry eyes and i'm the buffet" and he's standing right next to the chick's man and there's pictures of them together on the fridge?
Weak weak layout.
Who'd want a small beer when ya got them big colt 45 bottles?
(or maybe i'm just an alkie)

P.S. Colt 45s suck, I mean the big Labatt Black Ice bottles but they are more commonly known as colt 45
