Due to some "technical difficulties" the ticket sale did not proceed as planned today. Tickets will definitely go on sale tomorrow, Tuesday June 15th at 10 AM Local time. Other previously released information remains the same.

Yeah, i was more than a little steamed when i set aside my whole day, called in sick to work, only to see that the tickets now go on sale TOMORROW...!?!? horrible organization, really very bad....not just this, everything from the past 3 months or so related to the new album.

but who am i kidding, i cant stay mad...im grateful they're coming to my lovely city

on my end, not to try and answer for viciousmartyr, only for myself, i think fans have been upset due to lack of updates from the band/management about events developing (although many other bands go above and beyond the call in this regard - ie live webcasting of recording sessions etc - and it may have spoiled some fans of other bands), but that said i do think 'das hip could have stepped it up a bit to say the least.

Fans these days are info hungry, immediate access through the web to anything lyrics, setlists, bios, interviews etc. has made passing time between albums almost unbearable and with time accelerated (in terms of information flow) a month with no updates on the progress of tour plans, album release, another ARA, is like an eternity here in the hipbase world.

lack of new stuff on THC website has been disappointing - even having it updated would have been something, if not what's the point of being a member - the small pre-IBE show passwords even went to the general tehhip.com mailing list and we all could have got the same info on thehip.com site, lack of a live DVD, lack of multiple official live CD releases, no double CD of b-sides, unrealeased and rarities - although this has mostly been driven by the hardcore obsessives (myself included - i'm not sitting in my beer bottle house throwing stones) but it would be nice to see.

the DVD especially is a hot topic since many bands now include them as bonuses in their CD releases. I know that the live hip show is killer and that many people are fans because of the live experience (don't get me wrong the albums are rock solid too) but people love the live show.

If they want to get friends involved what better way than to show them a live version of your favourite song, folks who don't live in Toronto, or Canada or North America have very little opportunity to see the band live, maybe a DVD is something that'll get them hooked, requesting the boys on their local radio station so much that they can no longer be ignored!

The same can be said of official bootlegs, fans love the jams, the rants, the snippets of other artists songs Gord throws in there, the energy of live shows is amazing. They can really make the songs come alive, for hardcores and new fans alike.

My last point (i know this rant has been long) is that i love this band, i want to see them continue to succeed. I want to see them be cutting edge, leading the way in how music is distributed (ie bonus DVDs, official bootlegs), how well they treat their fans (make THC work!) and generally stand up and out above the crowd of average bands that are seemingly endless in the marketplace - they could take a few lessons from Pearl Jam and the Dave Matthews Band in these regards. Basically I want them to be the great band I know they are, to keep their current fans and to attract new ones, if the core fanbase is not happy or engaged then maybe they will drift, maybe they won't share their love of the band with their friends and make new converts, maybe another band will be their main focus, maybe it wont be the Tragically Hip and for me I don't want it to be another band cause if it was, that would truly be tragic. End rant.
