I saw the hip here in Regina at the Dorris Knight Hall on that tour. I remember flies on fire sucked. I remember everyone chanting gordie, gordie before the hip came out and when they did everyone around me wasn't sure which one was Gord D as he had just had his hair cut off and was supporting the bald look. He was wearing a plaid shirt and workboots. I wore my workboots everyday for a year after seeing gord in his. I fractured two ribs from being squished against the metal fence in front of the stage. Also a huge fight broke out right after the oncore. Two huge guys, it was bloody. Many girls were pulled outta the pit during the show by security. This was pretty typical of early hip shows. Beer was CHEAP!

The very first time I saw The Hip, Flies On Fire opened up for them. They did not suck, they put on a pretty good show. The Hip know how to pick great opening bands. Anyways, after Flies On Fire finished, Joey Vandetta from Q-107 introduced The Hip. They opened with Three Pistols.
I was at The Concert Hall concert in 1991. The Hip rocked, and I've seen them 20 times since. Can't wait for the new album.

I don't know about the Hip's taste in opening bands - they toured with By Divine Right in, I think, 1999. I thought they were atrocious. I began to understand why thousands of people come to the venue half an hour late. I don't know if anyone else liked or hated this band, but they were not destined to carry my favour.

I've seen The Hip on every tour since TATH and the only openening band I liked enough to go out and buy an album of was Sam Roberts.

I thought the Odds rocked. Too bad they broke up. Great lyrics.

Forgot about Odds. Great band with great tunes. I got to have lunch with them about ten years ago when they played inside the Earl's Restaurant back home for a radio contest. Good guys all-around. My friend (who won the contest) still sees Pat Steward around Nanaimo all the time.
