For all you Deadheads...
#1

Although I am not too big a fan, I can respect its history and culture. Just wanted to let you guys and gals know that The Grateful Dead have given permission to www.archive.org to host shows. I can see this getting real, real big. Have fun!

Now if we could only get the friggin Hip on there... Confusedcratch:

There's really already enough places hosting and seeding shows - try the Projects. I think right now there's Projects 1963-69 and 1974 out there. If you want your fill of Dead bootlegs, these are the best sources...you can usually get a whole 3 CD show in a few hours!

There is also projects for 69, 77, 78 and 85. They can be found on etree.com. This is an incredible source for live music. I've even seen a couple of Hip shows up there. I think they were put there by Lance.

I tried posting some, but the first one - which worked - had a faulty track that wouldn't decode. I never figured it out. Both of my next attempts failed, and I never understood why because I did the same stuff as I did with the first one. I gave up. It would be nice to contribute, and I tried, but it was just too frustrating and time consuming.

I'm an old deadhead. First show in 1978 (with New Riders of the Purple Sage and Willie Nelson).

The Tragically Hip was the first band I saw, post Jerry's death, that even compared. If you got to the core of the Grateful Dead...Jerry, Bobby, Phil, Billy and Mickey, you had THE tightest jam band ever.

Being front and center for The Tragically Hip at Irving Plaza in NYC was near as good as being front and center for The Grateful Dead at Madison Square Garden in 1979.

But The Dead were better.

These days, Government Mule kicks the most ASS around.

JMHO.
