Hey everyone,
Edgefest 2004 was announced this morning. Here's the line-up and details:
Good Charlotte
Finger Eleven
Billy Talent
Jet
Alexisonfire
Something Corporate
Jersey
The Salads
It's at Molson Amphitheatre on Friday, July 2, 2004.
Tickets on sale Thursday, March 25.
It looks like it is catering to a slightly different genre than last year.....

Why did it move from Molson park? Did I hear correctly that it is closing? However the Warped tour is booked there this summer, so I don't get it.

I thought I read somewhere that Warped Tour was going to be at the Docks this year.
Also, last year's event was dubbed the last bash because they're turning Molson Park into a strip mall or some other such nonsense.

Right, I thought so too, but the warper tour website says molson park. It just didn't make sense, not like i'm going or anything. I just know edgefest won't make as much money this year at the amp.

i was listening to the ongoing history of new music with alan cross on sunday morning, it was all about edgefest. now i only caught the end of it but he was talking about the whole molson park situation and how now it's at the ampatheatre. he said that molson park was an excellent venue that fit their needs but it's too bad that it's no longer in use. he said that they would love to do the show at downsview park but there is too much work that needs to be done there before they could do an edgefest. he said that maybe nearing the end of the decade that it might be up to par and then we might see edgefest held there.

that's exactly where I thought it should be, it'd be the next best thing to molson park.

Warped Tour is at Molson Park this year, but that's only because they do not require the use of the stage/amphitheatre; which Edgefest does. The stage/amphitheatre is apparently going to be torn down before the summer concert season. (Or maybe it already is? I haven't been up that way lately.)
Thehip21, how can you say that they won't make as much money at The Amphitheatre as Molson Park? And besides, maybe it isn't just about making money?

It's not just about making money. How many tickets can they sell to the park? how many ticket can they sell to the amp?

35,000 at Molson Park.
20,000 at The Amphitheatre.
Cost of facility is much different, as are ticket prices. And to manage 35,000 people in a big open space costs a lot more than the relative intimacy of The Amphitheatre.
Either way, I am not impressed with this years line-up, and will not be attending.

we can agree on that, Billy Talent seems good, but...the rest aren't that exciting.

To me, all the songs by Billy Talent sound the same.
The only group on the bill that I really want to see again is The Salads.
