Damn, end of era. Loved my time on this board with all you Hip heads. From celebrating album releases and to the 2016 tour and onward, it's been a hell of a ride. None of my friends were huge Hip fans, so it was always nice to have a place where I could see the opinions of other die-hards.

Went from utterly depressed to signed up for Discord app in a matter of moments.

I had a Gord moment today listening to the latest 31 Thoughts (hockey) podcast where they interviewed Dallas Green and spoke about music and hockey and talked about Gord and the Hip's last concert..

Thanks,
Chris

Man, that's too bad, but fully understandable. It sure has been a heck of a lot of fun on here.

Lance, thank you kindly for all your hard work over the years keeping this forum together. This is a sad day indeed, as this place has long been my online sanctuary, as well as my favorite place to get news and recommendations about new music/bands, among other things. Dammit, I'm gonna miss this place.

Just signed up for the Discord app. It's weird, but I'm sure I'll get used to it.

Lance,

Thank you for keeping this place going for us over the years. This has been a great place to talk Hip, music, culture, etc. Plenty of thoughtful and fun people here at various times. I understand your needing to let it go. Thank you much.

I'm sorry to see this come to an end. Between the recent album threads and the weakest link polls I've been stopping in a few times a week for the past year or more. There are so many great people on this board who have shared wonderful stories about the band and thoughtful insights about the music. It was enjoyable to spend time among serious music fans for whom obsessions are understood. Thanks to everyone who's given me a different perspective on a song, turned me on to new music, or just made me laugh. As a great man once said, "I'll see you all down the road somewhere".

Wow...end of an era, and this really closes the book on the Hip for me! I remember finding the board in 2006, when WC came out. I got some great advice for when to lineup for the warm up gigs in Calgary, and I've been a part of the board ever since. It's been a great place and I'm always checking in on the board numerous times a week, if not everyday.

Thanks Lance for all the work you've done! This has been such a great place to talk about the Hip, and I'm going to miss it.

Lance thank you for all your work. This forum is a beautiful little corner of the internet where music lovers have engaged respectfully and intelligently with each other- there's hope for us yet. I have enjoyed reading what everyone has to say and it's been especially comforting and helpful in the past couple years.

I wrote this on October 17, 2017:

Chris Tanz Wrote:Can we all, can you all, just stay here for a bit, while I, while we, collect ourselves. There's too much to say, too much to write, too much to think, too much to feel. We passed through paroxysms of grief last year, heights of elation last year, introspection last year, gratitude, anticipation. We knew but didn't know what was coming. I can't process it fast enough and I don't want this place, this thread to ebb with some quick words that cannot express it enough. So please, let's just stay here for a bit. This place is only here. The whole of Canada and honourary Canadians that they, that he, made will celebrate him deeply and feel sorrow deeply, but this place is not that place. This place is the inner sanctum of that place. It's at the kernel of it, where whole songs are shorthands, all songs are one song and that song is don't forget.

I've been here for 14 years. Longer than grade school. Longer than high school. Longer than university, masters, and law school. Longer than my kids have been alive. There aren't many other things that have lasted that long. My wife beats you guys by 1 year.

Thanks for the ride.
