I was hoping to get confirmation about the origins of this particular pressing of the EP. Based on what I've seen online, it may be a German version or maybe totally unofficial. It looks too old to be a recent repress. The only versions that I've seen occasionally for sale in the area have been the lighter blue covers. Any help is much appreciated.

What's the track listing? You can at least narrow down the era, if it includes Surf Club then its the reissue (MCA/Music Vaultz/Music on Vinyl). No Surf club, then it's a 1987 pressing. There are a few different versions of that original pressing, but I'm not sure about a German one? There's at least two Canadian versions (MCA and RCA) and then an US and a US promo. I don't think there was a European pressing until Music on Vinyl 2015.

It's an official pressing from before they signed with MCA. Doubt it is German unless denoted on the label. I do not recall seeing German pressings of the EP, but have for RA, FC.

Is the label black or orange?

Based on past online sales and some of the very gougy used vinyl prices I have seen at sonic boom, you did well. Nice find.

That is a neat find -- Rock Records was the independent label, with a distribution deal through RCA. So I'm guessing that's a true "first" first pressing of the EP. It was then repressed and released through MCA the same year (I have an MCA copy). The artwork did change with the pressings -- same image, but slightly different cropping and colors.

Pricing on the EP was funny. Was around $80, then prices really dropped when it was re-issued (you end up with a smaller market -- collectors seeking earlier pressings, versus the more general population who don't care and want the album on vinyl). $50 is a pretty good price....though I got mine for $5 in 1987 I can't really say the vinyl sounds much better than the CD release, as the recording is not a sonic masterpiece, but it's neat collectable to have.
