Reminds me of Skydiggers "A Penny More" - "oh for a lover, no one compares to you"

That was off of their "Restless" album from '92, so timeline kind of matches up.

It's definitely from the Skydiggers song, Gord was a big fan and used that line quite a bit in those days. I believe he was even spotted at a recent Skydiggers concert in Toronto.

Yes, Skydiggers -- also added the line at the end of Nautical on SNL. Josh from the Skydiggers was in Gord's solo band.

Isn't "Of all dreamers and lover, no-one else compares to you" a Beatles song lyric?

"Of all my friends and lovers, there is no one compares with you" - "In My Life"

I've usually heard it as "Whoa, for a lover, no one compares to you" -- the outro for A Penny More. The jamming end of Nautical shares a bit of a similar melody, and Gord always seemed to deliver the lines with the same inflection as Andy:

Yup, it's definitely the Skydiggers. The two bands were mutual fans, and they often shared the stage at various shows in the early to mid-90s.
