Anyone there too? Footage? Pics? I have my ticket stub in a box somewhere here in Calgary after numerous moves...will post a pic if I ever find it lol. This concert seems to have disappeared off the map of history and would be great if you can correct me.

I was there -- worked that afternoon pumping gas (which shows how long ago this was....a job pumping gas). Made it in time for The Hip set. What I mostly remember was the stage was set up with the Lansdowne south side stands behind it. There was a huge Canada flag draped across the second deck.

Sometime during the Hip's set, a guy snuck into the south side and security were chasing him around as he kept ducking in under the flag. From the north side, we watched these bumps under the flag chasing after him. He got a big cheer after finally getting caught.

Here's where my timeline gets a bit fuzzy. I sort of recall they played two years in a row on Canada Day. If my memory is right, in 1990 they were in Ottawa earlier and then on to Barrie for that evening. I think Kim Mitchell was the headliner for that 1990 event, as I recall leaving after the Hip. Then in 1991 they headlined the event. Your lineup looks right, though I don't remember Blue Rodeo. I do remember Rick Emmitt and Colin James being on the bill at least one of those years.

What sort of throws off my memory -- ARA was then at Lansdowne in 1993. Possibly they did not play in 1990, I went to see someone else on that Canada Day, and I'm just combining Canada Day and ARA.

Either was, the concert series ran a few years and I remember it was a highlight of Canada Day. Too bad it seemed to stop after two years.

There's also a Ottawa Congress Center show missing from the archives -- Road Apples tour, The Waltons opened. I think it was in 1991, and then they returned that year and also played the Congress Center on NYE with the Skydiggers opening.

Yes, that NYE is in the archives -- there's another one that's been forgotten -- like I said above, not NYE, Waltons opened, Road Apples tour. Would have either been earlier in 91 or later in 92. I mostly remember getting kicked by a biker after my wife smacked him on the back of the head for pushing past her.

Waltons were touring Lik My Trakter, which came out indie in 91 and then on a label in 92. Another memory is they opened to a slightly Hip centric audience but did OK (Jason Plumb turned a Hip, Hip, Hip chant into Hey, Hey, Hey), but then I remember seeing them watch the show from the second floor windows at the back of the Congress Center.

Hip set included Fight (I recall that was the first time seeing a microphone stand fight) and All-Canadian Surf Club -- up until then I had the LP and cassette, did not know about that song until the show and tracked down the CD.

As somebody who now lives in Ottawa.... just curious... What is / was / where is the Congress Centre?

It's now fully renovated and called the Shaw Center, it's also been called the convention center -- on Colonel By Drive just south of Rideau, adjacent to the Rideau Center.

It used to host a number of concerts. I'm guessing it was about 2,000 or so capacity for concerts, maybe a bit larger, so was that perfect venue at the time -- bigger than Barrymore's or Porter Hall at Carleton U -- also used to host a lot of show -- but not quite ready to move up to the Civic Center or NHL arena once it existed. Shows that would have gone there are now either the slightly smaller Bronson Center, or more likely skipping Ottawa.

It was not the greatest venue for shows. Carpeted floors, which must have been disgusting, grey concrete walls that bounced sound, way too hot in the summer when full.
