We spent the past weekend at the Mariposa Folk Festival and saw the Bare Naked Ladies perform. Kevin Hearn, who plays keyboards and some guitar with them also works with Gord. I looked up his solo work and saw the cover of his most recent work "Days and Frames". It's the same beautiful portrait of a woman that hangs on the wall of the practice room/studio where Gord was for the Peter Mansbridge Interview.http://www.cbc.ca/news/thenational/gord-...-1.3804422.


Does anyone know anything about this portrait? I don't own a copy of Kevin Hearn's "Days of Frames" so no idea if he credits an artist/title/owner.
I wonder if it belongs to Kevin or Gord, or if the room that they used for the interview is Kevin's space.

Just curious : )

The songs on Days In Frames were written in Hearn’s Toronto home as well as Muskoka, ON, Paris, Tofino, B.C., and Cape Dorset on Baffin Island in Canada’s Arctic; he visited the latter in June 2014, a trip he describes as a “life-changing experience.” A longtime patron of Inuit art, Hearn was invited by the Dorset Fine Arts studio, home to some of his favourite artists, such as Shuvinai Ashoona, who painted a guitar for him; Hearn dedicates “Midnight Sun” to her. His relationship with art also informs Days In Frames’ first single, “Gallerina,” sung from the perspective of a painting infatuated with a gallery worker—it’s not a tale of unrequited love, exactly, but it does illustrate Hearn’s unique outlook.

Me: And who is that on the album cover?

Kevin: Her name is Evelyn Keyes. She was an actress. She played Sue Ellen O’Hara in the 1939 film Gone With The Wind. My great Uncle Arnold and Evelyn were dating sometime way back then, and he had that portrait of her painted by an artist named Pal Fried, who had studied with Claude Monet. Anyhow, he left the painting to my mother, who gave it to my sister, who lent it to me. Compare this photo of her to the painting!

Wow! - There was a bit of sleuthing involved : ) The likeness of the photo and the painting is so close. Thanks for the info. I wasn't finding anything on it and it is a beautiful painting. We so enjoyed seeing Kevin perform with BNL last weekend - so talented....played piano, guitar, and accordion, easily rotating between all 3.
