Buffalo Shows - November 18 & 19?
#1

So I heard from a friend who has some high-level contacts at the Key Bank Center (formerly First Niagara Center) that the Hip are indeed set to play two dates in November.

I was skeptical of this and will remain skeptical until it's announced but my friend is confident this is happening.

Apparently, they are just trying to work out some insurance issues, which may explain why the US was left out of the summer tour.

Kingston was the perfect last tour stop but who knows? Maybe a jaunt through Buffalo, Detroit, Cleveland, Boston, New York and Seattle is in the cards. Guess we'll find out.

And based on the Canadian tour, I'd guess back-to-back nights are out.

For my 100th post and being originally from Buffalo I thought this would be the perfect topic to post in. As much as I would love to go with my father and see the hip for one last time I just don't seem it happening. The band playing back to back nights in the states after opting not to in canada just doesn't make sense. Also this would months after even playing one show. Imagine Gord having to perform for 3 hrs back to back nights after not playing in close to 3 months. By the last date of the tour he seemed spent. I will selfishly admit that when the summer tour was announced and no Buffalo date came up I was pretty let down. After seeing the Summer tour via periscope and CTV I can honestly say that the band has given me enough and they don't have anything left to prove. If the band plays Buffalo I will do my best to be there but if they don't it is totally understandable and shouldn't be held against them. Also for what it's worth a very good friend of mine works for Time Warner/ YNN news in Buffalo and he asked people within the Key Bank Center if this show was booked and he was told "nothing has been worked out for 2016" So if the band were to do Buffalo Artpark in the winter would be out of the question and the town ballroom is too small. Where would they play? Riveria Theatre? That place would sell out in seconds. I just don't see it happening.

They would be playing the hockey arena, which they've played many times before. I agree, these dates are incorrect with the Sabres having a home game November 19, however there have been multiple rumours of the band having a hold on the hockey rink. Where there's smoke, there's usually fire. At the very least, based on these rumours, I believe the band placed a hold on the arena with some intention of playing there in November. Plans can obviously change but it seems like something was at least in the works at some point and may still be.

I hope we can keep these threads to legit rumours rather than, "I just don't see them playing more show" comments.

For what its worth, I recently read that the Hip were asked to play the World Cup of Hockey fanfest here in Toronto and they politely declined.

None of us are in the band so ANY comment would be a rumor. I however would think that someone notable with Buffalo news speaking with someone with the actual arena management and getting confirmation that no dates are set for 2016 would be legit enough to post. Especially with some of the things I have seen posted on this very board with no merit whatsoever to them. As Thompson girl also stated the hip were asked to play the WCOH fest and turned it down. It would make sense if they were playing Buffalo in mid november that an announcement would be made in the extreme near future as ticket sales etc would need to be ironed out and if management in the actual arena is saying the hip don't have dates booked it would seem that it isn't going to happen.

Sure they do.

Person that has a connection with promoter, venue, band stating a holding is on the venue - legit rumour

Person stating, "I don't think there will be more shows because I think Gord looked tired at the end of the tour." - non-legit comment in a rumour thread

It would be a legit comment. Gord did look tired at the end of the tour. If he hopped around dancing a jig doing cartwheels that would make it a non-legit comment.

Can't it only be legitimate once it is true? Beforehand its only a rumor. Even in this case the basis for the legitimate rumor is "high level contacts" at the rink, who apparently can't read a calendar to see their major tenant is playing a hockey game that evening.

Mabye we're more is the speculation territory, but haven't yet got to wild guesses. Confusedhock: Just having fun on a rainy night, hopefully we see more Hip shows.

Mentioned to my friend about the Sabres conflict.

He checked the text again and realized it said Nov 18 and 20.

Maybe all of this is wishful thinking even on the part of the Arena folks.

We'll see.

People should look into Joe Louis Arena. See if they have any November dates open.

Now we're checking the November schedules of every rink bordering Canada?

Additionally, back in August, I had heard east coast Canada may get shows in November.
