CBC confirms no re-broadcast of Kingston show
#1

There will be no re-broadcast or on-demand way to watch the Kingston concert afterwards if you can't watch it live (unless you PVR it of course). They want the viewers to experience the show live in the moment as if they are there with those inside K-Rock.

The article also says it will be fully up to The Hip to decide what they want to do with the TV footage (DVD, etc...)

But I want to live the moment in person and then see how it came across on TV. I don't have a PVR so if someone happens to capture, let me know!

Across The Causeway '04 | Big Music Fest '08 | Kingston '09 | Bobcaygeon '11 | Cobourg '13 | Bluesfest '13 | Danforth Music Hall '15 | Kingston '15 | Bluesfest '15 | Toronto I '16 | Toronto II '16 | Toronto III '16 | Hamilton '16 | Ottawa '16 | Kingston '16

I have absolutely zero doubt the full TV broadcast will be "available" online very soon after it goes off the air, just not through official channels

Wow, no reruns is a missed opportunity to attract eyeballs to their declining viewership.

Wonder if this was CBC aiming to ensure taxpayers receive the worst possible value for their $ OR if these terms came from the Hip.

Either way, we live in the age of PVR and torrents and I am thankful for that.

Almost definitely a condition in the Hip's contract with CBC. CBC gets one-time broadcast rights, and the Hip gets the footage to use in perpetuity for official DVDs, as an addition to a box set, etc.

I know this is "nit-picky" but I truly hope the producers of the live broadcast mix the show correctly. So many times with the Hip, the live feed mix is way, way too compressed with the music squashed (and the crowd almost non-existent) and Gords vocals too loud. Fingers are crossed for the band and crowd to be up in the mix...I want to "feel" the room and rock with the arena!!!
