Will the CBC Aug. 20th broadcast be available in the U.S.?
#1

Live in the U.S....I read on a FB page that the CBC will allow it to be streamed anywhere in the worl but trying to verify if that's true.

Anyone know for sure?

I already downloaded a VPN, so I should be ok either way but would rather not even have to worry about that.

The Hip are loved the world over, not just Canada, so I hope everyone will have the chance to catch the Hip for that one last time.

Yes, you should be able to watch in the U.S. Here's all the info from CBC's website:

Tragically Hip: A National Celebration on CBC
Saturday, August 20 | 7:30 CT

The final concert of the Tragically Hip's upcoming summer tour will be broadcast and streamed live on CBC. The tour wraps up in their hometown of Kingston and will be broadcast and streamed — commercial free — on CBC Television, CBC Radio One, CBC Radio 2, cbcmusic.ca and CBC's YouTube channels.

I get CBC TV here in Michigan so I'll watch it on TV. As far as all the CBC online streaming sites, it's possible non-Canadian viewers will get a 'this content only available in Canada' message.

Thanks for info but nothing in that announcement states that people outside of Canada will be able to stream it..unless I'm missing something. Trying to get a definitive on this, but again,,thanks for the info.

Here ya go. I found this in another thread:

From the CBC article:

"CBC and the Hip are so happy to be able to share this event with all Canadians and bring audiences across the country and around the world together to celebrate the moment."

Here it says it will be broadcast to all of Canada, so that doesn't sound good for the rest of the world.

Here in Buffalo a local brewery and an up and coming area, Larkinville, are throwing an outdoor viewing party with partial proceeds going to Sunnybrook Foundation:

Just as important, will the show be available the next day as I have an engagement party that night?

But, that party is the only reason I am within 3 hours of Canada and am able to attend the Ottawa show!

Nope. I'll be at the show and wanted to watch the next day, won't be online.. legally.

Someone needs to verify this. I don't want a scope that night. The rest of us need to see this as well. I believe the consensus is that the cbc will remove the block. It's been vaguely insinuated at least.

This broadcast will not be blocked. I emailed someone at the cbc to confirm. Not sure this applies to many of us. But I will be on the couch in Phoenix feeling this with the rest of you. Hope this helps if anyone else was seriously concerned. Peace
