Hey folks, the sad reality is that many fans will be shut out of the official onsale this friday and be forced to resort to dealing with scalpers. If you do this, know that there are inherent risks. With shows with such high demand, there WILL be counterfeit tickets going around. The best way you can protect yourself from this is buying from a reputable seller that has a proven track record of standing behind their sales. Its next to impossible to get ripped off if you buy from stubhub, vivid seats or any of the "established" scumbags who despite manipulating the ticket market, will stand behind their customers. Worst case scenario is you get a fake ticket, but you get your money back fully. In most cases they will also try to find you a comparable ticket and leave it at willcall .....they can do this because they have such a massive pool of tickets in their possession. Basically what im saying is, DO NOT buy from craigslist, kijiji or ebay. If you give a random stranger cash for tickets, you run the risk of driving to the venue and being turned away at the door. The police dont have the resources to deal with this type of fraud and wont be able to get you your money back. Ive also seen and heard of people buying fake tickets from street scalpers as well, so please know the risks of buying this way.

Agreed. Perhaps a board admin could pin this as well, at least until the tour is done. I would hate to see a baser travel to a venue with a counterfeit ticket, and this happens a lot. I have heard a few first hand accounts myself.

I agree with cordelia...do NOT buy from kijij, craigslist or ebay. And even if you buy from someone on here I would ask for name, address and phone number and I would verify all of it before I transferred any money.

Yes, or if you buy someone on here, try to do a ticketmaster transfer online....if its not a CC entry ticket. This makes it so they cant just print a second copy of the same tickets at home.

Another thing you can do if you're buying from fans on the forum or facebook is have them transfer them to you over ticketmaster officially.

It won't work unless the seller physically accompanies you to the show or gives you a cancelled credit card to take with you

You're correct, but I think iamcordelia's point is you would have recourse with stubhub if that happened, as any such "ticket" supplied to you would be counterfeit since there is no ticket issued for the credit card authorization required tickets. Someone else pointed out that not all tickets require credit card authorization, which may be true, in which case ticket transfer would be permitted for those tickets only.

Try the general sale on Friday before you buy from any scalper. There will still be good tickets available.

One thing ive noticed is that for a lot of shows, there are hardly any tickets in the zones covered by this policy. For example in kingston this is sections 1, 2, 3 on the floor as well as lower bowl sections 102, 103, 112, 113. So in theory, there should be zero tickets with this policy on stubhub. Ive also heard rumors that if you were say a season ticket holder for the hockey team using this arena, your exclusive first dibs on event tickets wouldnt include this policy. So you'd be able to resell.

Also, I was lucky enough to score two Ottawa tickets in the presale for face value in section C. It was covered by the credit card policy and there are plenty of tickets from that section on stubhub. EVERYONE BE CAREFUL.

It's likely Ticketmaster never made those seats available in the presale and are selling them through StubHub, therefore the policy does not apply. They are probably still legit but I would call StubHub before I spent that kind of money.

Oh thats interesting, i was wrong then. I know that leafs ticket holders get access to concerts at the acc, and so do london knights season ticket holders at the budweiser gardens in london. Must depend on each arena/team. That being said even then im not sure if its EVERY single concert.

Perhaps the leafs and knights own their own rinks and that is why their policy differs? I believe the Krock center venue is owned by the city of Kingston, sponsored by Rogers for the naming rights, and rented by the Frontenacs for $1
