The Flying Coaster - May 7, 1996
#1

Happy 20th birthday Trouble At The Henhouse. (aka: holy shit, 20 years?)

How many people here were around when we still bought CD's?
How many remember the "wonderful" Henhouse packaging?
Everytime I pick the damn TATH CD case up - I see a silver thing flying across the room.
"What the hell was that?"
"Oh yeah - just the CD"

PS- I love this album. I really never think it gets enough love around here based on when I see everyone rank their albums.

TATH is brilliant, and almost perfect. Just could never get that coconut cream under my skin.

Had a serious dislike for any CD that did not come in a jewel case for this very reason.

Love TATH - Giftshop, Springtime, ABAC, Don't Wake Daddy, Sherpa, Apartment song, Put it Off...

Going to listen right now!

I hated that cardboard sleeve so much, I remember the first time I saw it in a plastic case at the store I was over the moon and bought it without hesitation.

I'm revisiting this album now. Put on the good headphones and enjoying it so much. Man, I love this record. So much nostalgia and so many great memories attached to it. Hearing Gift Shop live for the first time at ARA in '95, Butts Wigglin' on the Brain Candy soundtrack, listening to the album premiere on the radio, skipping a morning class to run to Music City and buy the CD.... Good times were had twenty years ago!

ha...yes, the memories. i recall being in montreal and basically our apartment building was all uni students and one of 4 or 5 apartments had this constantly 'spinning' with a middle atrium that carried the music to all...it was a magical time as is every phase of our lives. with props to peter mansbridge, this band has been the music chroniclers of our time. but i ain't ordering the chardonnay. ahh...we don't go to hell, but our memories on the other hand.

I was only twelve years old. This was the first CD I ever bought. The sleeve was the worst thing ever. But the album is fantastic. Day For Night and TATH are The Hip at their musical best, IMO.
