New Album?
#1

Are we going to get any information. This is completely sick, most bands now have footage on their sites of recording, and updates, hipfans are getting hosed, i don't think it's fair at all. they think we can just amuse ourselves while waiting for anything they feel the need to throw down to us, this is horse shit. I've never been mad at the hip, until now. i check their site every week just to see something new, and..........nothing. not a happy new year, not a happy holidays, not a "here's a title for the new album", nothing. maybe it's just frustration , i don't know but it's really bothering me, same with the hip club, when's the last time they did anything with that, it's like the only time they want to associate with fans is when they're pushing an album, which isn't right. someone please tell me i'm an ass and that no one else feels like this. i know that PJ's tenclub is the envy of the universe, but maybe we should try something like that. ah well , i wait for your yelling, bye!

No I agree with you. I find it quite annoying. Just for an example with Incubus...they have an album coming out in Feb. But for months now they have done fan questions had tons of updates on their site and you could even check out the new video on their site. So yes the hip could at least update with something like the details of the recording. Like a rough release date at least. I'm sure a lot of us feel like this.

I agree also, their site hasn't been updated in a very long time, and it is sad. They don't even have to do it, they probably have people who do it for them, so what is the problem??
Don't worry, you're not alone

This issue has been pissing me off more and more with each passing day. The Hip were pioneers in using the internet to communicate with their fans, however as of late, they have completely disappeared. Perhaps they had to lay off their webmaster, as a result of slumping record sales? Wink

Happy Holidays would've been an easy update; and The Hip Club is useless. I've become disillusioned with the band that I've held in such high esteem for so long.

Here's hoping that they are working on producing an album that just blows us away, opens the eyes of American popular radio, turns them into the Canadian version of U2, and proves what us fans knew all along: The Hip are an incredible rock band!

Yeah, I got ants in my pants too guys. :jump
I'm not really mad, but a little disappointed that we have heard nothing.

In the meantime though, have any of you used the wayback machine on archive.org? Holy sh*t, it is so cool. It lets you surf old, out of date web pages. So in the meantime check it out and put in www.thehip.com and you can browse through the years. I forgot how basic and simple the old site was, how cool! :thumb: At least I have something to do to pass the time before the new tunes roll in!

Cheers!

i posted this in another thread, but it really applies here as well. i can't figure out how to link to a particular post, so i will just copy and paste:

(from the "hip dvd" thread)

it seems that over the years, the Hip have lost touch with their fans.

for many years they were active in keeping the fans up to date on the happenings in the band. they used to mail out the Tales From the Hip, they introduced the hyper cd's (a project they never finished), and they used to keep their website up to date.

now, we have the Hip Club which has not been updated since July and really only has a couple updates since it's creation. their website hasn't changed since IVL was released. they did a lame "western" canada theatre tour which left over half the country out in the cold.

i know that there hasn't been much to report lately, but the least they could do is keep their fans updated on the recording process. maybe they could post their thoughts on what the new record might sound like. things like that would get this community talking again and possibly spark interest in a new tour, etc. let's face it, the last couple of tours have been medicore at best.

I have been pissed about how the Hip have been keeping people upto date for the last few years. The Hip Club for me was really no surprise. The person that reads the Hip email does not even respond to my email anymore. And like mark also said they left out most of the country the theatre tour.

Maybe this will all change with new management? We can only hope.

I need 2 Kingston Tickets, please help.

I'm gotta say as well that I'm a tinge confused :? I thought for sure that they would by now say yop were in the studio or ya happy holidayz or something Confusedcratch: I really really really hope they have got something so INCREDIBLY AMAZINGLY COOL FOR US that we have a frickin coranary bypass graft surgery becuase of the shock of the ensueing news, christ AC/DC even sent me a happy new year and a enrty to try win a signed poster :thumb: and they haven't released an album well for 2 years is it?but man if they don't give us something by mid-feb then I'm gonna be pissed,we should all send then an email and say whats up? and why the long incomminicado? thats what i think i'm gonna go........

I will not give up. My face is set,my gait is fast,my goal is heaven,my road is narrow,my way is rough,my companions are few,my guide is reliable,my mission is clear. I cannot be bought, compromised, detoured, lured away, turned back, diluted or delayed. I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of adversity, negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity,or meander in the maze of mediocrity. I will not give up,shut up or slow down....Blessed Be!

That's what I was thinking to Summit, that we should take this thread and maybe send it to the hip. Who knows maybe they won't even give a :censored . I don't know, but like Lance said maybe it's management? But again how hard is it to say something like Merry Christmas.
Gees should I bow in their presence too??

Yeah you'd expect them to invest in their fans a bit more. After all they're not a mainstream band and therefore depend more on a loyal fanbase than many other groups out there...

hey folks they are artists and then need time to create. So forgive me for not caring for an updated as to what is going on they don't email us anyways they hire someone to do it. Plus the hip love to make fans wait the anticipation makes us want for new hip more and more everyday.

the new album will be out before we know it. my suggestion is explore new music, read a book , see a movie with your kids . We all have our bootlegs and studio cds of the hip to tie us over til the cd drops.
