New Pink Floyd
#1

Not going to get my hopes up yet, hard to say if this will be any good or just a rehash of material not good enough to make "The Division Bell"......

Rock veterans Pink Floyd are to release their first new album in 20 years.

The legendary band will unveil The Endless River in October, their first new record since 1994's The Division Bell.

The album is based on a series of tracks originally recorded in 1994 and previously intended for release under the title The Big Spliff.

Following the death of Pink Floyd keyboardist Richard Wright in 2008, David Gilmour and Nick Mason headed back into the studio to expand on the existing tracks and add some vocals to the songs.

However, fans hoping the news paves the way for a long-awaited reunion tour from the band are set for disappointment - a spokesman tells British newspaper The Sun on Sunday that the rockers will not be hitting the road to promote the album.

Hmm, could be interesting. Just wish they would drop the name Pink Floyd. That band seized to exist when Waters left. Thanks for the update.

No Waters; no tour; B-sides from Division Bell.

Nothing to see here.

I agree Waters was Pink Floyd, the lyrics, the vision, the music.....but no denying the sound was Gilmour. Comfortably Numb, through and through Waters....until that goosebump worthy solo is hit. That goes for a majority of their music.

I might be in the minority, but I thought the Division Bell was a phenomenal album (granted I always looked at it as more of a Gilmour solo album). The static "Cluster One" opening into "What Do You Want From Me" opening riff sets the bar and stays there right till, the end. I think the only weak song on it was maybe "Wearing The Inside Out". Not that it was that weak, I just think misplaced on the album.

Either way, I am a huge fan of both and what they brought to the group. I won't pass judgement on this new CD until it comes out.
