Personal Hip Live Outliers
#1

Hey everyone,

At a recent show I was at, the hip played Twist my arm, a less common song that I've still heard live 6 or 7 times in 20ish concerts. I figure many of you out there must notice certain songs always are played when you attend or are played the night before/after you go. There was also a run of shows where I heard don't wake daddy played at 4 of 6 shows. So what are some less common songs you've heard more than the average folk, or a more common song you've never heard or heard very few times.

I'm quite certain the song I've heard performed most often is 100th Meridian.

Of the rarer tracks I've heard live only once: Throwing off glass, The Bear, The Rules, 38 years old and Sherpa.

Looking forward to hearing what other strange coincidences people have, which will certainly vary based on the number of shows you've seen and what tours.

I've heard Kids Don't Get It three times now. Once in Indianapolis on the WC tour and now twice in Edmonton in 2011 and 2013.

I consider myself lucky to have heard The Darkest One, 38 Years Old, and Gems.

In just 9 shows, I've seen Thugs twice, Long Time Running twice, Unplucked Gems twice, Boots or Hearts twice, and Fiddlers Green 4 times. Rarest I've seen performed is probably 38YO.

14 shows since 2000, I've got fiddler's green 6 times. If you had told me that in 2005, I'd have laughed. And then scratched my head.

I've seen Emperor Penguin 3 times. Quite lucky, since it's been performed only 4 times since my first show in December of 2000.

Had a similar experience only once...
2012-06-30 - Niagara-on-the-Lake; Goodnight Attwapiskat rocked my world for the first time. I think that's the only time the first time I heard a Hip song was live... I somehow lucked out with a terrible bootleg copy of 'Yer Not The Ocean' before Charlottetown '06.

32 shows, I've heard Wild Mountain Honey once. And I've never seen the Bear in a concert proper, but I heard them perform it in soundcheck before a show. And out of the 32 shows I've seen, they've omitted NOIS once.

I'm at 9 shows without ever hearing 50MC. It is my #1 song that I want to hear live by them... followed by The Darkest One, and Tiger the Lion.

9 shows and I haven't heard any of those three. Would settle for just one!

Likewise, eight shows without hearing 50MC. It's one I'd love to hear.

amazing how that stuff happens, 11 shows for me and a full six appearances of 50MC ... a staggering 54.5% success rate :music

been fairly lucky for being in the right place at the right time despite only seeing 11 shows in the "modern era" (2003-onward), got a few rarities under the belt like Darkest One, Thompson Girl, Dire Wolf, Wherewithal, 38YO, Daredevil, Daddy, couple Fiddler's and even a Goodnight Josephine ... biggest (realistic?) one i'm waiting on is probably Three Pistols :rambo: and maybe dreaming but an Emperor Penguin would be perfect. :thumb:

i'll edit this to add Scared. that would be a real treat

Nice thread!

I'd say my most coveted but missed would be 38yo. I know its rare but im at 20 shows since 98 (seen them in 93 before i was really into them but cant find yhat setlist) and haven't seen it.

Been very lucky on some others though: I've seen every song on PP. Every song on MAW except Pines and Bear. Seen Cordelia once. Pigeon twice. Everytime you go once. Just to name a few
